My kids are watching an episode of some Pokemon show where there's a team of Squirtles wearing uniforms and fighting fires and now everyone is mad at me for asking if those are the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Squirtles"

According to scripture, we are allowed to stone this person.
The dirty secret of pies is that they have the lowest ceiling potential of all sweets. Your best pie is merely fine. Your median pie is bad.

So many people on here proudly being wrong about turkey being anything but delicious and then they're going to go and eat fucking pumpkin pie, the worst and only bad pie.

Really important to stress that the Crown Jewels of the US higher education system were never the Ivies or elite SLACs (other countries have equivalents of these) but the well-funded, large, cheap, and excellently staffed public state university systems bringing high quality education to the masses.
One of the bragging rights that the US ed system had in the 20th century is that we didn't have education tracks. Essentially, any kid could go to a CC or state school & major in whatever they wanted to (obviously an oversimplification). I fear this aspect of the American dream is dying.

"What's it like being married to an English Professor?"

This week my wife had to define two different words she had used in anger in front of our six year old (at different times, not in one sentence).

1. Sartorial
2. Asshole

Buying this should strip you of your right to buy alcohol ever again.

A court should have to appoint a conservator over every decision you ever have to make ever.

You should have to get permission to us anything sharper than a champagne cork

Hi, long-time haver of severe back problems here and just wanted to say that JD Vance can get all the way fucked.
JD Vance calls ibuprofen "useless medication" and implies it's not "necessary, safe and effective."

These CEOs are so incredibly thin-skinned that the idea of them being able to work an actual service job for five minutes during a real rush. The noise and the frustrated customers would reduce them to screaming at everyone.
I boycott Starbucks on general principle, but as for this motherfucker… I bet he couldn’t make a decent coffee drink if his life depended on it (“BuT i TrAiNeD aS a BaRiStA tO uNdErStAnD mY pEePs!”), and doesn’t have 1/10,000th the skills of any of his actual baristas.
Please boycott Starbucks until this strike is over.

You ever call a senator's office and ask the staffer who picks up what it's like to work for someone without a spine?

10/10 recommend.

Every statement by a Senator that says that they're furious over this capitulation in exchange for being untouchable by law enforcement is lying because if they weren't they wouldn't have allowed unanimous consent on the measure.

They all caved and are trying to let 6 of their ilk cover for them.
His statement is pretty blunt for a Senator, calling out the Minority Leader of your own party ahead of the Majority Leader is...well suffice to say I think Marty is now off Chuck's Christmas card list lol

The most annoying thing about this saga of Democratic Party flaccidity is that you know that a year or so after Schumer is finally dumped as leader there will be a billion pieces talking about how he took the blame to protect his caucus members who were vulnerable blah blah blah.
After his pathetic surrender to Republicans on the government shutdown, it's time for Chuck Schumer to go, writes @jeetheer.bsky.social.
After This Shutdown Surrender, Chuck Schumer Needs to Go
The Democratic leader’s cave-in makes it all too clear: It’s time to clean house in the Senate.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?
