This degree of solipsism is a great data point in the case for abolishing the Senate.
Tim Kaine on backlash he's getting: "I got the first good night's sleep last night that I've gotten since Oct 1, b/c I wasn't worried about being able to look Capitol Police in the eye when I walked in, or what a furloughed fed worker would say to me at church, or what somebody would say about SNAP"

Pretty nauseated at the idea that the pounds of hemp flower I spent all year growing and tens of thousands of dollars harvesting could be made illegal overnight just so the Democrats could end the shutdown for nothing.

The shutdown deal includes a ban on hemp products that none of its negotiators debated in public.

Disappointing that only 24 senators voted against killing an amendment to strike that ban.

Well THC seltzers from hemp products were nice to get outside of dispensaries while they lasted… Congrats to cowardly Senate Dems on their policy success!

Tim Kaine says a lot of the angry statements from his colleagues in the Senate is kayfabe. I don't think he's lying.

Of course, it's no defense of this indefensible position by him, by the other 7, by the Senate Dem leadership & caucus

American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

I think tonight shows why “moderate to win elections” is a real risk

the big divide in the Dem caucus, as many have noted, has been less moderate vs progressive than fight versus don’t fight

but it’s not a coincidence that basically everyone in the “don’t fight” camp is a moderate

I’m just surprised the Dem defectors didn’t ask to be paid in USD1 going forward

Since the Democrats worked extra hard to hide who actually supported this, I think the No Kings/Resistance position should be to primary every Democrat unless they publicly call for Schumer's ouster this week

Either they go into total rebellion mode, which they won't, or the people will

- Minibus has RIF reversals and "protections" against them in future

It’s one thing to live with knowing the vast majority of Democratic elected officials don’t share my worldview & values.

But you’d think they would at least try to win , let alone stand up to Trump’s blatant authoritarianism

It’s hard to imagine a less intelligent move by the Democrats from either a policy or political standpoint.
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown
A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

Historically, the theory that you reach the masses by running to the center is built on a candidate who won 43 percent of the vote in a three-way race
A "modest margin" when Mamdani beat his next closest challenger by 8 points in a three-person race. Trump won by just 1.5% and it was played off as a seismic realignment of American politics and culture.
Damn, I hate it when things that happen mean nothing :-(
