I think this is at the heart of why AI is useful to fascists. They seek to throttle the imagination, so people won't be able to think of ways to stop them. People won't be able to hope for anything better.
I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.

Texas has some nasty ballot measures out there. Prop 3 and Prop 12 would basically turn the state courts into a farce, enabling the regime to punish judges for making rulings they don't like and veing able to throw trans people in jail without bail for merely existing.
