Betting used to mean sort of committing a crime in the name of fun and nothing legal can ever beat that
a lukewarm take I have is that betting has become supremely boring. Going-to-the-window euphoria doesn't exist in the phone. Scarcity was fun (in moderation). And the ads and content around it all is so bland
got pushed over the edge w legal sports betting just now when CBS cut to a guy giving his best bet on the team to get promoted from EFL league 1. Ban it again, go back to Vegas, sick of this shit

This is controversial for her career but the extent of the controversy, the extent of the provocation to anyone, is showing children being bombed as kids who deserve to live instead of faceless statistics, and if someone argues against that? Idk maybe that viewpoint should be the controversial one

TAPPER: The one thing I hear from almost every small business owner is the uncertainty. They don't know how to plan for the future because they have no idea what's gonna come.

It is not unfrequent to hear men declaim loudly upon liberty, who, if we may judge by the whole tenor of their actions, mean nothing else by it but their own liberty, — to oppress without control or the restraint of laws all who are poorer or weaker than themselves.

not that it should have to be like this for people to care, but everyone should understand that anti-trans bigotry is a threat to cisgender people as well as to trans people.

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.

The position of the democratic party should be "you can return him now, or we will come get him when we are back in power, and drop you off at the Hague on the flight home."
Nayib Bukele is an enemy to the liberties of Americans and has behaved with contempt toward our laws and our courts. For as long as he lives, patriotic Americans should remember that about him -- and about his patron in the White House.

If you accept that non-citizens have no right to due process, you are accepting that citizens have no right to due process. All the government has to do is claim that you are not a citizen; without due process you have no chance to prove the contrary.

not to be a "but the founders" guy but one thing the founders had absolutely right is that habeus corpus -- the principle that the government has to justify imprisonment through a process more complex and adversarial than just asserting that someone is bad -- is the foundational liberty we have
The whole point is not just the state disappearing whoever they want, it's you being in the habit of accepting the state choosing whom to disappear, without question. It's submission to the state. Same as with Gitmo after 9/11. The state's judgment must not be questioned.
This should INFURIATE you

Meanwhile, millions of people trust the way they present total bullshit with confident language.

We're doing these racists a big favor when we pretend their project is in any way based on actual grievance with modern DEI policy. They just want to promote the belief that no non-white person has ever been worthy of any praise or qualified for any honor or position
This is blood-boiling. Charles Rogers was awarded the Medal of Honor in Vietnam after being wounded three times leading the defense of a position.

Google his name and the entry below comes up. When you click, you'll see the page has been deleted and the URL changed to include "DEI medal."
