We're preparing to instal a heat pump in the spring. If the below happens, it will cost us £7k extra - possibly beyond our means.
This will kill the heat pump market.
And that means cuts in investment in the whole system: tech, skills, supply chain, business investment.
And the subsidy is not a *benefit*, it's designed to equalise the choice between gas and electric.

International-level athletes are, not to put too fine a word on it, genetic freaks. They, M & F, cis & trans, are much more like one another than they are like the rest of us slobs. But only certain facets of that freakery, the ones which don’t accord with gender stereotypes, are to be punished.
"Cis women having male levels of testosterone" is another big giveaway about what this is. What is a "male" level of testosterone and how can a cis female have it naturally occurring in their cis female body if its specific to men? Is there a male level of height?

47. The Commission’s proposed interpretation of the various relevant provisions of the EqA is advanced without reference to the Human Rights Act 1998 (“HRA”). That is for three reasons. First, even assuming that it were applicable, it is not necessary to resort to the principle of interpretation in s. 3 HRA, in order to justify the conclusion that the second definition is the one adopted in the EqA. Second, in areas of difficulty of interpretation, notably ss. 17 and 18 EqA, even assuming that it were applicable, s. 3 HRA would not compel the unsatisfactory conclusion that “woman” should have different meanings across the EqA. Third, and in any event, the Commission is sceptical that Convention rights provide a useful framework, or tool, by which the Court may resolve the contentious issues in this case. There are, after all, two competing strands of rights at issue: the rights of trans people, as recognised, for example, in Goodwin; and the rights of women to be protected from violence by men (eg Luca v Moldova (2024) 79 EHRR 2, §50) and from having to share certain spaces with trans women and men, thereby creating embarrassment, shame and potentially an increased risk of violence (see FDJ v Secretary of State for Justice [2021] EWHC 1746 (Admin), [2021] 1 WLR 5265, §§76-78, 98 and 100 [EF.1196]). These are some quite heartbreaking stories and, as Holly Greenberry-Pullen comments in the piece, really illustrates the perverse absurdity of deeming trans teens to young to even get blockers but being fine with intersex kids getting horrifically drastic full-on bodily surgery as *toddlers*.

the fun thing about the BBC story is that I can't actually read about it for more than couple of minutes at a time because it makes me feel too insane :)
The worst you can accuse Panorama of doing is making a misleading edit – and I’d dispute that! – to make *a point that was true*.
The programme aired without anyone seeing any issues with the edit. It was on iPlayer for a year without complaints. Donald Trump *did* incite Jan 6th.
