I feel it's worth noting that in tuesday's meeting in the House Committee on Energy and Commerce about a shitton of "protect the children!" internet bills, committee members advocated for leaving carve outs in their various censorship/surveillance bills for advertisers to keep advertising at kids
The Horses situation has brought this Epic Games policy to my attention and it might be the most embarassing exception put to print

Please for the love of god call your reps and tell them to vote no to KOSA and other bad internet bills otherwise we lose everything we have
You need to do it now, today is the day
Congress is attempting to fast track KOSA and more than a dozen bills that would restrict internet access, censor speech and increase surveillance under the guise of protecting children.

Committee hearings begin tomorrow.

I think when you're calling your representatives and/or the Committee majority number, you should be demanding that these bills go through more meetings

they need maximum scrutiny and should not be pushed through as fast as possible
wants this to be the last meeting on this matter before they turn bills into laws.

it's always so frustrating to hear about old-timey politics where an autocrat could just be told to stop being such a cunt by like one guy in a public arena and it would immediately and permanently devastate his reputation and cause him to die in disgrace

Attend these hearings by writing emails and making calls!

Mention the Discord Leak in August.

Mention how the Roblox CEO said kids should experience pedophilia and gambling on his "game".

The internet should NOT be parenting kids. Tell parents they need to stop being lazy about setting up safety!

It's better if you think about AI's purpose like Uber/Lyft, whose purpose was to attack public transit and kill taxi companies.
AI's purpose is to get people fired en masse.

Theres no bubble to pop exactly.
There is only an increased risk of poverty riot while they stress-test these systems limits

AI is NOT inevitable. Keep not using it. Uninstall Copilot from your computer. Refuse to use programs bogged down with it. Complain loudly about it when they shove it into the programs you use. We can starve the slop machines.
"All of this falls apart if humans don't adopt the tech. This is why you've seen Meta cram its lame chatbots into WhatsApp and Instagram. This is why Notepad and Paint now have useless Copilot buttons on Windows. This is why Google Gemini wants to "help you" read and reply to your emails."
Analysis: OpenAI is a loss-making machine, how can it survive?
Don't call it a bubble! Loss-making monster OpenAI is on the hook for $1.4 trillion (with a T) in compute commitments. How can this go on?

KOSA is never about protecting kids. It’s anti-queer and about making sure kids don’t have access to information they need to survive - from health basics to knowing they are not alone and not broken. And it will destroy the internet as we know it.
🚨‼️As of yesterday KOSA is at 64 cosponsors with @vanhollen.senate.gov + @kim.senate.gov - who claim to support LGTBQ+ rights but are clearly okay with supporting legislation that’ll censor us off the internet- newly signed on.

SO... I'm pretty much done with Fortnite. There were statements made by Tim Sweeney saying that AI usage doesn't need to be disclosed, and then AI usage was found all over this current season- from art to sprays to in-game songs. Between that, and the upcoming shitty wizard collab... Yeah, I'm done.

The article is well worth a read; this information would never have come to light were it not for Steam's AI disclosure policy, and the game looks to be a rushed cash grab not involving Grasshopper studio.

This is why CEOs dont like AI disclosures, they want to be able to discreetly serve slop
The Let it Die sequel - Let it Die: Inferno - which is coming out next week (4th December), seems to have been built using a considerable amount of generative AI. https://bit.ly/4ol7lIA

Twitter has spent the last four years implementing horrible features that nobody wanted and yet they keep doubling down on them. But the second they implement a feature that exposes their base as scammer bots they fix it within an hour.
Twitter had to turn off its location feature within hours because thousands of prominent and "verified" MAGA accounts turned out to be foreign and I think it's hilarious that Elon was the one who exposed them all

Thinking a lot about how when Schreier's exposé on R* working conditions came out, several mid-level devs I used to respect came out with very defensive "well *I've* never worked 90 hour weeks" as though it negated the fact that many contract and QA devs demonstrably were.
PMG understands Rockstar became aware of these messages after at least one non-union member of the server raised concerns about these discussions with management and this either kicked off, or contributed to, a wider investigation.

Feels like it should be bigger news that a journalist known for being loud about her investigations into banks/payment processors appears to be getting financially stonewalled by the entire industry unaminously right now.
The full count as of today:

YouTube suspended
Twitch banned 3x
Patreon suspended (temporary)
Patreon 3x audio flags (one false posi)
Ko-fi suspended (indefinite?)
Buy Me a Coffee suspended
Vice reporting censored
Pornhub censored 3x times
Fansly censored 1x
Is it really a conspiracy to say Ana is being explicitly flagged by finance bros when she's now been banned (or censored) from Twitch, Patreon, Buy Me A Coffee, Ko-Fi, and *PornHub*??
