besides the obvious near-term concrete win here (congratulations Blue Prince, new winner of GOTY) I appreciate this also hopefully makes ultra clear to newer teams that even if their work was as well received as Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, AI'll make it ineligible or get an asterisk in awards shows

I still can't believe they're trying to make a war happen out of thin air. Not just their abrogation of Congress's role in formally declaring a war -- that's been a slippery slope for decades -- but their total unwillingness even to go through the motions of drumming up public support.

I was having a sad moment thinking about all the gaming communities I've either left or felt bullied out of this year, then an IRL friend pointed out that they were mostly male-dominated, conservative-leaning, and majority American spaces that I had just been tolerating out of a sense of necessity.

It's important that we assess the damage of gamergate, but as it was largely about harassing games journalists, I'm disappointed that this piece didn't actually talk to many games journalists. Many of us quit journalism since then, for good reason. I'm sad to not see that addressed.
