Steinbeck is 🔥.
Pinned
In America and Americans, John Steinbeck writes: “We have failed sometimes, taken wrong paths, paused for renewal, filled our bellies and licked our wounds; but we have never slipped back—never.”

What would he say now? Have we finally crossed the line and “slipped back” as a nation? 1/3
This frenetic impulse to quash humanitarian aid impiies Dickens, Chaplin, Steinbeck, Conrad have been completely ignored. I can only suppose millions of Americans don't read and/or are obsessed with pseudo-reality & game shows, horror & action movies, video games, sports events, ... The Coiosseum.
Why do stories like this waste time telling me they’re Republicans, as if I can’t figure it out on my own?

What could be more Republican than attacking law-abiding-but-brown refugees with full-legal status who “played by the rules,” and are legitimately seeking a better home?
Let me explain what this genuinely EVIL memo does. The admin is doubling down on its plan to arrest, detain, and interrogate tens of thousands of legally present refugees; people already vetted who’ve lived here legally for 1+ year.

Hundreds were arrested in Minnesota before a court blocked this.

This story dispels the myth that AI is inherently useless. People are paying OpenRouter to process 30 trillion tokens per month because they are applying LLMs to their benefit. Not everyone is misapplying the tech to count the number of “r”’s in “strawberry.” It actually is good at some things.

I don’t think people realize how serious this is.
Republicans have damage our national security so much. What if we really needed to attack Iran? The UK wouldn’t have hesitated to be our partners in any military action under Obama or Biden.

This is the guy who “was NEVER aware of the illegal activity charged in the indictment” against Jeffrey Epstein. What are the odds Jeffrey Epstein never told his friend, the CEO of Victoria’s Secret, that he likes sex with young girls? Like a grizzly not telling the CEO of Ora King he likes salmon.
As a reminder, this is the birthday note that Ohio's richest man Les Wexner wrote to Jeffrey Epstein

Note: Wexner is the founder of Victoria's Secret & PINK and the guy who exploited Abercrombie

Wait… you’re saying improving people’s conditions improves their conditions?

MIND BLOWN.
Why should you 🫵🏿 care about SNAP? SNAP recipients saw:

- Improved life expectancy
- Lower chance of incarceration
- Lowers chance of poverty
- Lived in better neighborhoods
- Higher human capital

SNAP keeps our neighbors fed, communities safer, and kids educated. Also people are HUNGRY. DUH!

This makes it much more economical to pump carbon into the atmosphere.
Just paid 2.99 a gallon for gas. How ‘bout that Trump economy? How’s that working out for you?

A friend sent me this article from The Onion, and I just assumed it was real:

The moral of this story is Republicans will abuse children without any kind of conscience.
ProPublica published children's letters and drawings documenting their sadness and suffering at Dilley. And Dilley staff are now retaliating by confiscating kids' letters and drawings.

I worked on the United Airlines redesign and re-branding in the mid-90s. It’s hugely expensive, complicated, and time-consuming.

This is where he’s wrong. Plenty of Republicans voted for people to be shot in the street by masked men.

Proof: Republicans aren’t doing anything about people being shot in the streets by masked men.
Moskowitz on Maria Bartiromo show's: "Americans voted to have people deported -- criminals and gang members -- they did not vote for people to be shot in the street by masked men. So I think Kristi Noem needs to go."

Be prepared for “The Diary of Anna Franco.”
What happens when it becomes too expensive to house and care for immigrants in these concentration camps? I’m sure Republicans have a “final solution” in mind.

Imagine approving the Wright Flyer for passenger air travel. AI is in its infancy. It should only be used in the context of constant real world fact-checking in review. Corollary: imagine judging the future of air travel based on the capabilities of the Wight Flyer.
Alpha School, an “AI-powered private school” that heavily relies on AI to teach students and can cost up to $65,000 a year, is AI-generating faulty lesson plans that internal documentation finds. @evystadium.bsky.social has more.

Now I know why Republicans hated Jesse Jackson so much.
Civil rights leader Jesse Jackson has passed away at the age of 84. My thoughts are with his family.

I wanted to share this clip from his appearance on Sesame Street in 1971. His important words ring just as true today as they did back then.
