Steinbeck is 🔥.
Pinned
In America and Americans, John Steinbeck writes: “We have failed sometimes, taken wrong paths, paused for renewal, filled our bellies and licked our wounds; but we have never slipped back—never.”

What would he say now? Have we finally crossed the line and “slipped back” as a nation? 1/3
This frenetic impulse to quash humanitarian aid impiies Dickens, Chaplin, Steinbeck, Conrad have been completely ignored. I can only suppose millions of Americans don't read and/or are obsessed with pseudo-reality & game shows, horror & action movies, video games, sports events, ... The Coiosseum.

This campaign won’t end well.

Prediction: progressives will complain that Dems roll over to the opposition party. So, they’ll abstain… resulting in the most horrible opposition in power.

We need to be better listeners in the Palestinian/Israeli conflict.

This morning I went to a lecture describing the level of death, suffering, and destruction in Palestine. It really helped me understand why Evangelical Christians support Israel.

I feel like I understand their support better now.

How about, “I don’t want to get ~other~ people sick.”

The most effective masking vector for preventing the spread of airborne pathogens is for the (possibly) sick person to wear a mask.

Prevent ~spreading~ disease, not just catching disease.

That’s why I always wore an N95 when Covid was rampant.
Sometimes when people ask me why I’m wearing a mask I say I’m traveling or have some important thing soon and can’t afford to get sick and miss it and that’s pretty much always true but I think it would be nice if it were more normalized to just say “I don’t want to get sick” and leave it at that

No. Republicans cost Republicans the election. There is no such thing as a Trump / Republican dichotomy.
From coast to coast, Democrats scored huge blowout wins against Trump and the GOP this week. What does this mean for next year's midterms — and has Trump's failure to tackle affordability doomed him for good? Let's break it all down. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azIm_JPnd9M

And, remember, whatever comes out, evangelicals used the Bible to defend this behavior. They’ve proactively deemed it acceptable. “King David was a man after God’s heart,” remember? So, whatever Trump did, it doesn’t matter. They’re fine with it. Because scripture gives him permission to do so.
