It seems there are two main reasons things haven’t gone completely to shit in the US: 1. Lawyers and the courts; 2. Journalists and the media. Most of us can’t do anything about the first, but we can support journalism. Stop complaining about paywalls and subscribe to news & donate to public media.

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain.

Donald Trump has committed at least 16 of those same offenses.

AOC shows how to fight back and stand strong
Other Democrats, from Schumer to Hochul, should follow her lead.

James Madison wrote of the necessity of the separation of powers:
“The accumulation of all powers, legislative, executive & judiciary, in the same hands, whether of one, a few, or many, whether hereditary, self-appointed, or elected, may justly be pronounced the very definition of tyranny.”

In 1977, Vincent Price starred in a one-man-show where he played openly gay Oscar Wilde; it was condemned by Anita Bryant. When asked about her condemnation, Price replied that Wilde had already written a play about Anita: “A Woman of No Importance”

Think I will give this a chance, exactly what I'm looking for right now
I will post my new Resistance HQ bulletin each day at 8PM ET. It is designed for people who don’t really want to watch the news right now or wade through the muck of social media to find nuggets of things that are important. It will tell you what happened that day without the BS.

Seth Abramson makes several good points listing why Joe Biden should stay in the race. 1) Republicans want him to drop out. 2) Democrats would lose the incumbent advantage. 3) He would immediately be a lame duck president. If you still have concerns please read this

The Extremely Simple Reason MAGA Wants President Joe Biden to End His Campaign
If you’re a Democratic or independent voter who’s been suckered into the idea that Biden ending his campaign would do anything but ensure a second Trump term, it’s time to awaken from the fever dream.

If you are feeling a bit shaky on Biden, this is an important read. I have never before seen the so-called liberal media (looking at you @nytimes.com) wage such a brutal, bullying campaign against one of our own
(📢) FREE at PROOF: The Future of American Democracy Is Biden, Obama, or Bust

This essay takes a dramatic—and radical—view of the crossroads that America has come to. It’s not an easy read, but I hope a fulfilling one.

Please consider sharing.
The Future of American Democracy: Biden, Obama, or Bust
Media may want an internecine bloodbath inside the Democratic Party as democracy hangs from a cliff, but it won’t happen. It won’t happen because data and history point to only three likely outcomes.

To All: This story would make a GREAT addition to the Kaiju canon
In fact the film/TV option for Kaiju Preservation Society has just come back to me, so if you know someone who wants to spend a hundred million dollars+ to make it, please direct them to my manager, all the information to contact him is on IMDb Pro.
Congrats! It’s a great book. When do we get the movie/streaming series? How about a sequel?

Hello New Jersey / New York
there's a fuckin *ocean* of money sloshing around at the top of society. one reason why we see so much investment into AI or crypto magic beans, it has nowhere sane to go (because the masses haven't had the spending power to justify investment in regular business until very recently)
The Massachusetts "millionaires tax" has vastly surpassed projections, bringing in more than $1.8 billion in revenue so far this fiscal year — with the prospect of a surplus of hundreds of millions of dollars to spend on transportation and education

I just finished Patrick Rothfuss' "The Wise Man's Fear" (5 stars, all the stars, loved it). I've totally been called out
saw someone on booktok use the phrase "old man fantasy" (non-derogatory!) for "classic political high fantasy stuff that you can imagine your dad reading" and someone else in the comments chimed in with "I've been calling them grandpa books" 😭 the entire convo is positive recs, to be clear lmao
