I'm at the Target boycott, I'm at the Starbucks boycott, I'm at the combination Target boycott and Starbucks boycott
Beginning Monday, a Frozen Peppermint Hot Chocolate drink will be available exclusively at Starbucks cafés inside Target stores.

The chains are hoping the drink can drum up excitement from customers this holiday season.

So GOP phone banking for our state election is going great /s
The GOP called my mom, misgendered her because they couldn't read her name, were rude about being corrected, said they were calling about Trump (not the actual candidate). My mom hung up in disgust.
They're not sending their best.

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

Remember the recent middle-of-the-night apartment building raid where children were dragged outside naked & zip-tied in the street while black & Latino residents were _sorted by race_ and piled into separate vans while their apartments were ransacked & robbed? That raid? So it resulted in 0 arrests.

To process those applications again is going to cost so much time and money. They are spending money to starve people. And given the level of corruption, I have no doubt that applications with names indicating certain backgrounds will be conveniently "misplaced" for weeks if not months or years.

I think there’s a preference difference here in which no one’s necessarily wrong.

If you’re doing something bad to me, and I tell you to stop, I don’t want to hear why you did it. I want you to tell me that you won’t do it any more.

Explanations suggest you’re going to keep doing it.
"Autism isn't an excuse."

No it's not. It's an explanation.

"No. You're using it as an excuse. You should have known the thing you did was unacceptable."

Except I didn't. And I'm explaining why.

Someone asked me why I cover Ukraine’s success hitting Russian infrastructure but rarely mention Russian strikes on Ukraine. Russia targets residential areas, hospitals, orphanages, weddings. No strategic value. The aim is to cause terror. Terror is effective when it’s amplified. I’m not helping Rus

I wanted to share probably the most important sermon I’ve given and it’s while I’m being arrested. It’s torture pure and simple what happens at #Broadview. I’m ok, though I was thrown to the ground and choked with my pectoral cross. A review of the video shows I was peaceful - did I deserve this?

I do not want to “Do my own research.” I want to pay trained accredited experts to do the research, trained accredited experts to report on findings, and trained accredited experts to make policy based on them.

I am busy af with my own job, I don’t need to do eight zillion more.

I feel like my generation experienced this with our elders. So many important people in our lives completely abandoned their values or were exposed as hypocrites.
The amount of people I know who are no contact with their parents, taken internships off their CVs, left their faith entirely...
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

the problem is that shitty people keep thinking the cataclysmic social divide happening right now is between educated/uneducated or pastoral/cosmopolitan when in fact it is between cruel/kind, abuser/decent - and being surprised by which side of that line they fall on

This is such a massive loss. Alice Wong’s work is outstanding. We are all worse off without her. If you haven’t I would highly recommend you read her work. She’s my go to mention when discussing impactful people who studied Sociology. I’m gutted by this news 💔

I cannot begin to properly articulate how upsetting it is to have had people baselessly accuse trans people of being groomers and pedophiles only for it to come out that they were deliberately doing this as part of a project to provide cover to actual groomers and pedophiles in positions of power

RE starbucks picket line--the relevant detail is "picket line, do not cross." Pass that along. Proclaiming that you are in no danger of doing so because you are too aesthetically pure to let Starbucks coffee pass your lips is...unhelpful and does not give the impression you perhaps imagine it does.

Turns out this is exceptional.
Reminder to myself and other friends: our 60% is someone else's 100% 😬
I never knew that my emails, filled to the brim with complete sentences and a coherent narrative, were such a work of art. I'm bout to start printing these out and hanging them on the walls.

Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

Yes there's a lot of denial, but I've seen it: when it snaps, it snaps hard.

"Powerful men covered up child sex abuse" isn't outlandish when you've seen that happen in church, boy scouts, school athletics, and every other social pillar of your conservative middle-class life in the past few decades.
