It's fascinating how Rebecca Heinemann managed to make Out of this World run on the SNES. Interplay, publisher of the console versions and the company she co-founded, wouldn't pay for Super FX/static RAM/FastROM chips. "I made a game using polygons working on a 65816 with pure software rendering."

The Mega Drive/Genesis has a rudimentary region check system on the motherboard via jumpers that is rarely used for region lockout or to swap out graphics/text and to determine whether the game should run at 60Hz or 50Hz. Most folks know late release games with region lock, but some early games --
