Spinball Saturday!
@kenplume.bsky.social posted about Macy's Thanksgiving Parade with the Sonic Spinball soundtrack.
Other than the cardinal sins of Tiger with glare and bad sound, and Spinball's left plunge, the sprites are faithful and the gameplay was enjoyable.

Sonic Spinball Tiger handheld with bright blue casing, red bumpers on the rounded corners, and large round yellow buttons with red trim. There are 4 round yellow buttons under the center oriented screen, from left to right; OFF, SOUND, MAX SCORE, and ON/START, and a pinhole ACL button on the rightmost side. The overlay has the Sega logo, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG in blue, SPINBALL in purple at the top. The left has Robotnik in his round egg ship on the left, and Sonic Gotta Going Fast enough his legs look like a pinball. Close up on the screen. It is 2.3in (5.842cm) across x 1.6in (4.064cm) down. Timer at the upper right and Score at upper left. The background does a great job displaying the playfield from Spinball. There are outlanes at the bottom of either side that drain to the center with the flippers and center drain. The Sonic ball enters from the left. The sprites are crisp and lifted from the Genesis/MD game, with Sonic ball, Robotnik bumpers, and robotic chickens and gators. There are pink round teleports/bumpers at the top and bottom sides. The Chaos Emeralds are in glass tubes at the top.

Pokémon Thundershock Challenge Game, 1999, Tiger
It a cromulent pinball offering, but it does suffer from Tiger's penchant for being too loud. LED pinball is always clunky and slow.
The physical flippers and plunger are charming.

A red tabletop pinball game with original 151 Pokémon theming. It uses red LEDs instead of balls, but does have a pair of flippers at the bottom of the table, and one off the mid right. The playfield is a cromulent representation of a standard pinball table. The lanes are clear plastic. The field is bright and colorful with a background map of Kanto and Charmander, Ekans, Meowth, Pikachu, Squirtle, Pidgeotto, and Bulbasaur. There are two black round buttons with a white ring around them on either side toward the bottom for the flippers. There is a black plunger with white on the end. The score is kept at the bottom middle on a basic LCD. It lets you enter your initials and save your score! The speaker grille is at the bottom left. It are loud.

Attack from Mars, 1998, Tiger (yes, THAT Tiger!)
This game deserves way more attention.
It uses actual digitized sound effects, multiple modes, decent controls, a pull back plunger, LCD wiggle Martians, and a solid table layout.
It's great o'clock.
Attack from Mars handheld game. Shaped kind of like an isosceles trapezoid. It is taller than wide, top is 2.7in (6.858cm), 5.7in on either side (14.478cm), and 3.7in (9.398cm) on the bottom. The top of the casing is black, and royal blue for the rest. There is a bezel that surrounds the 1.6in (4.064cm) across and 1.8in (4.572cm) down screen, that is situated in the upper half of the game. The bezel has a sticker with the art from the Attack From Mars pinball table with the Attack From Mars logo in red at the top. The screen has an isometric view of the AFM table, with the score to 100 millions at the top middle, GAME OVER to the top left, and SCORE in the top right. There are two silver flipper buttons just below the middle of the game. There is a yellow pull down plunger on the bottom right side. The bottom middle is silver plastic with a round bump in the middle because art. Page 73 of the spiral bound 1999 Tiger Electronics trade show catalog. The page is yellow orange with pictures of Pin.Bot and Attack from Mars.

Murderous Mogs, love only if you catch it, and the power of the sun!
Mogland, 1983, Casio.
I love how sturdy and pocketable this little game is, and it is solar powered!
You traverse up and down through the sewers to catch a heart for your person, who won't let you up without one! That's not love.
Mogland by Casio all folded up. The casing is slightly off white. It is 3 panels and folds together horizontally, with the top folding down and the bottom folding up over the screen. It has the Casio logo in red, a red heart with green wings, MOGLAND diagonally in brick red and green outline, and a green spiky red toothed bastard standing on a red oblong GAME. Mogland all opened up. The casing is all red. The top and thinnest panel contains the solar panel. The middle has the screen. The bottom panel has a silver metal overlay. It has a 5x5 open dot speaker grille, a black CATCH button, a black Music Note Music Note button, a white START, and a black rocker switch for up and down - positioned left to right. It has the red flying heart, CASIO CG-60 in black, and the spiky bastard on his red GAME, with the Mogland logo at the bottom middle. The screen for Mogland. There is a bezel that makes the screen look 2.8in (5.112cm) across x 1.8in (4.572cm) down. Lies. The screen is really 2in (3.08cm) across x 1.2in (2.848cm) down. From top to bottom, the bezel has blue sky with white puffy clouds and a green leafed tree with a brown trunk in the middle, a white house with a small area of LCD exposed, and descending white levels with brown floors, with the bottom just brown. The upper left has the score (of 30 because I suck), and the upper right, inside the house, has your dead 2 protags and GAME OVER (again, suck). The levels are descending horizontal strips, with ladders leading down each in the middle. Prowling the levels are those spiky bastards from the front, and if you get got, they bum rush your ass across the level and you ded. There are also flying hearts. You have to descend into the sewers, literally net a heart, and run back up to deliver heart to your person for points. You cannot come back up without a heart. Shitty first date.

A new Frogger added to the collection for #RandomGameSaturday
Frogger, 1983, Gakken VFD.
Though it looks like the Coleco Mini-Arcade from the same year, it is tougher! It added a snake in the 2nd level on, for more frog peril. I prefer the gameplay of the Gakken.
However, the viewing angle sucks.
A bright yellow tabletop VFD mini arcade game. The unit is pretty big and clunky. It is an octagon, but the upper sides are longest and flare out a bit. It is taller than wide. At the widest point it is 6.5in (16.51cm) and the height is close to 10.5in (26.67cm). It has the same yellow plastic as a hood from the back and up, to block the glare on the screen. The VFD has a viewable size of 3.8in up (9.652cm) x 2.8in across (7.112cm). It looks like it is multicolored, but the screen has colored bands that blend with the fluorescent sprites to give the illusion of color. The score is at the top, with extra Froggers at the top right, and GAME OVER at the left corner if you done fucked up. The time is a bar at the bottom that decreases one line at a time to the right. Frogger has to move upward past trucks, trucks, trucks, safe bank, turtles, logs, turtles, base. There is a big clear over top of black bezel around the screen. It has the cute Japanese FROGGER logo in white outline with a Frogger smile in the O. The left and right sides of the bezel describes the portion of the screen. The control is just a white plastic four way joystick in the bottom of the casing below the screen. There are two switches beneath that for SOUND (ON OFF) and GAME (A OFF B). The controls have a metallic blue sticker as an overlay. There is a blue metallic sticker at the bottom right corner of the game with the FROGGER logo in red outlined in yellow, LSI GAME in green outlined in yellow, and the Gakken logo in black. The Gakken VFD Frogger game with its ancient Japanese box. The Gakken VFD Frogger beside the green Coleco Frogger Mini Arcade.
