The important thing is not whether the Trump performing sexual favors for Bill Clinton thing is true. The important thing is that we all pretend it’s true, and that someone asks Trump about it every day.

Can't recommend enough @jamieloftus.bsky.social ' s "Lolita Podcast" which thoroughly illustrates the vast gulf between what Nabokov wrote and how it has been broadly absorbed into popular culture

Any time people start with the ephebophelia nonsense I want to point them to this quote by Nabokov about Lolita where he just fucking eviscerates an interviewer claiming that Humbert Humbert was the equivalent of 40 year olds marrying 20 year olds:

Think of your favorite celebrity, whether they’re an actor, musician, athlete, whatever.

They’re probably pretty well-off, financially. But they are still closer to auctioning off their possessions to cover medical bills than they are to being a billionaire.

i'm told steve brandt, who is a DFL endorsed elected official, was also turned away at the DFL listening session because he had a backpack. he'd biked there, and the organizers did not tell us backpacks were banned

@dfl.org
That’s my plan too. I believe I saw a former DFL candidate trying to get in and running afoul of the unpublished rule as well

It's almost like when you tax the rich in a place you get to make that place a better place and even the rich just looking out the windows of their limos at most of that place in passing prefer to think "oh, that looks nice" rather than "I must prepare my bunker for the impending apocalypse"

Minnesota has one of the strongest, most carefully regulated systems in the country to allow the sale of hemp products like THC beverages, and the bill that just passed screws all of that up.

We have a lot of MN breweries and distilleries that will be hurt by this.

MST3K is very much like the monster or the killer or the killer monster that we see so often in their movies: we can't count on it being gone right away!

No idea when or how the next incarnation will come about, but it's only a matter of time.

Also, HELL YES, TEAM EMILY!

Half your age plus seven is a MINIMUM, not a target.
gonna look at you hella suspiciously if you're mostly dating people 10 years younger than you; if you're over 25 and you're into people in their late teens, you're an extremely gross person!!

It's nice the gang goes to see 1991-era Aaron Neville at the end of it all, but it feels like we need MORE.

The original MST3K series finale, Diabolik? Lovely ending. Perfect bow on *everything.*
Good shoes should have endings. Everything that lives must also die. (Though it’s a nice bonus if it can continue to shamble relevantly and delightfully, like the best kind of Zombie Nightmare)
