one thing being lost in discourse is that rapid response networks are just a tool. they aren’t the end all, be all here. the actual goal is to connect with neighbors! and now with the leaks, they’re not being handed out like they were

go talk to your neighbors to find a chat! or you can make one!

DFL sent an email about federal occupation, alex pretti’s murder, and the threat of donald trump wanting minnesota’s voter rolls with less than a week before caucuses

constitutional observers will be there & a hotline? this just doesn’t feel like enough to make people feel safe

If you want to help influence what we spend federal infrastructure money on in the Twin Cities, and are a regular transit user.

There's still time to apply to be the Transit rep on the Transportation Advisory Board!!

I'm still angry I (and others) couldn't even get into the MN DFL listening session due to the unknown bag policy. Some of us didn't take a car there

Never got a follow up to my complaint
I was at of those DFL community “listening sessions” last fall just after the election, when we were all very bruised from the state snatching Fateh’s endorsement, and this was the plan he unveiled, to mass incredulity: “your troubles are over! We’re hiring INFLUENCERS!”
Well, not likely the DFL is going to try to undo the absolutely awful shitstorm started here over fundraising and simple questions of ‘where is that money going, SPECIFICALLY’ Since the person doing all the damage is ALREADY up posting long threads again. Day 3 crash out - going great!

For those who are hedging right now on whether ICE should exist or not— the question of what would you do in 1930s Nazi Germany is here and you have a chance to answer. This is not who we are as a nation, our beloved communities deserve better.

No snow removal on this sidewalk on MPRB property.

Wednesday it was marked off as done but this section was never touched. It’s impassable for anyone with mobility issues. The sidewalk is on the pedestrian priority network

No reply to my request yet and snow event done per park website

I have a grand total of zero patience left for the top paid city staff in charge of community safety not being able to answer basic questions about crime trends and personnel allocations as we deliberate our budget.
Worth watching not just because it's fun. The Frey admin choosing to implement the budget priorities of their friends over their foes is not how the council's power of the purse is supposed to work.

Our neighborhood org applied this year but was turned down. We intended to support seniors with shoveling and addressing critical path areas.

The senior support program makes sense, but is focused on single family home owners. Issues go beyond just those cases, especially in majority rental areas
Wonsley amendment restored full funding to the sidewalk snow clearing pilots. Public works decided not to fully implement the first year of the pilot last year. Public works director Sexton says partnering with neighborhood orgs delivered best bang for the buck.

New construction in the Elliot Park neighborhood brought park dedication fees, which allowed us to build a new skate park with lighting in 2020 ($400k) and is now paying for additional amenities at Elliot Park and Franklin Steele, including a new youth soccer field, opening 2026 ($1.5 million)
When we do, it brings in a lot of new property tax revenue for the site, it brings in new park dedication fees, the new residents become customers at local businesses which generate local sales taxes, and new jobs are brought in from construction and maintenance.

The 311 app makes this a quick process: Take a picture, new request, sidewalk-snow/ice

If you're worried about getting someone in trouble who is a first time offender, you won't! The city sends out a notice the first time reminding the property owner of their responsibility for snow removal
noon means it's time to report every single commercial property and rental larger than a duplex who have not cleared snow from their sidewalks yet! deadline is UP!

I received a response to my email this morning from Tim W. I'm guessing there were quite a few sent their way.

A subsequent email indicated my concerns were passed along to the Communications team and the chair
bsky.app/profile/mpls...
eva of SD59 says on twitter: "I talked with Tim W at DFL who was working with me on this. He said that DFL made mistake in not notifying people before event that security was going to turn people away with bags."

this is the same tim i emailed last night asking why we weren't told, no response yet

As a ward 6 caucus attendee, thank you for the work you put in. I'm very glad you voiced your concerns and shared your experience.

The scale of what is asked for in ward caucuses, which are larger than many cities', is huge and resources to support the work should come from the state party
this was the question I asked at the DFL listening session. The answer I got was not satisfactory. I didn’t record the answer bc I was exhausted lol

I received a prompt response from the MN DFL's Special Projects Coordinator apologizing for not explaining the bag policy and that it will be included on future events.

I noted a bag check (or removal of the large bag prohibition) also needs be removed to be inclusive to attendees.
Turned away from the MN DFL event due to a bag policy that didn’t appear anywhere in the invitation.

The suggestion was to put my bag in my car. I took the bus

I’m curious how many people were turned away due to other bags (bike bags, groceries, diaper bags) and didn’t have storage options

Please send a quick email if you were turned away due to the unpublished bag policy at the MN DFl listening event so they have some idea of how many people were impacted
in the mobilize email hit “contact the organizer” and complain about this!

Follow up question about the security for this event: Do all of the MN DFL listening sessions have this level of security or just Mpls?

Either way, why?

Adding to this a bit:

These kiosks are around the city, a lot at Metro Transit stops. They were funded through a 2020 program with Mpls public health and put out in an emergency process, so it was chaotic. They were brought in for refurbishment last year and the issue came up when putting them back
In the end we got it installed on the boulevard, which is city property, which somehow made everyone happy? Took months to resolve and hours of staff and volunteer time

We went through this in Elliot Park. Shaffer didn’t respond to emails and when she finally came to a meeting expressed confusion because we have a sharps box in each bathroom

Eventually Bangoura took it on and told us no, but we never heard of any actual policy, just that it would look bad
also i told jamal osman on election night that elizabeth shaffer had won and he told me a story about asking for safe needle disposal in a park and shaffer saying no because it will "encourage drug use." he was just like "it'll encourage kids not stepping on needles!"

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL

The voting area is for election judges/staff and voters only!

This is explicitly why the results tape goes up outside the voting area when the polls are closed. You get votes cast plus the actual results. oof
3/ Had to block a candidate’s campaign manager from coming into the voting area to look at the votes cast count on the tabulator. He just wasn’t a permitted person according to our training. First time he got through an unsuspecting judge. Second time they caught him in time for me to stop him.

Thank you so much for covering this.

Systemic problems are hard to address and take introspection to ID weaknesses in a current system and make changes: egos are very likely to get bruised. When set against people losing their lives, denial and deflection to avoid accountability are unconscionable
i’m at hennepin county government center for a press conference from commissioner irene fernando and domestic violence service providers are calling for transparency, accountability and action from the city’s leaders in the wake of mariah samuels’ murder

Looks like it already got painted over but 311 did close my case in 24 hours. Offensive graffiti seems to get quick attention

Notes: Case Referred to Other Jurisdiction PW-BRIDGE WAS NOTIFIED OF GRAFFITI ON 10/30/25
Reported.

We'll see how this shakes out getting the info to the right people to clean it off
