We had trouble getting info on the needle kiosk program scope and funding when looking into it. On Mpls' side, there didn't seem to be much documentation and no MOUs were created between parties. I hope these things have improved!

But definitely about partners not talking to each other
Adding to this a bit:

These kiosks are around the city, a lot at Metro Transit stops. They were funded through a 2020 program with Mpls public health and put out in an emergency process, so it was chaotic. They were brought in for refurbishment last year and the issue came up when putting them back
In the end we got it installed on the boulevard, which is city property, which somehow made everyone happy? Took months to resolve and hours of staff and volunteer time
That was part of the case: needles are just one form of waste and we need the right way to dispose of it, just like trash, recycling, and compost bins (also on park property)

We went through this in Elliot Park. Shaffer didn’t respond to emails and when she finally came to a meeting expressed confusion because we have a sharps box in each bathroom

Eventually Bangoura took it on and told us no, but we never heard of any actual policy, just that it would look bad
also i told jamal osman on election night that elizabeth shaffer had won and he told me a story about asking for safe needle disposal in a park and shaffer saying no because it will "encourage drug use." he was just like "it'll encourage kids not stepping on needles!"

GOOD LUCK TO US ALL
Looks like a little movement since the prior candidate corridor screening. West 7th was added after the local plan fell through, but presenters let us know it would have sat at 4th.

Interesting first look at the data AND dealing with redistricting changes. Thanks for your work!
Closest I've found: 2012 map.

It's possible some precincts might have changed by 2021 before the new maps came into use, but it should be a very small number www.minnpost.com/wp-content/u...

I'll keep going through my emails from then. I suspect there was a low res precinct map that could be cross-referenced
Might get at what you're looking for, but could be clunky. This was the base map for the redistricting group and for public submissions in 2022. Districtr also has 2020 census population by census block on rollover. districtr.org/plan/44729?p...

Sorry, Ididn't see the additional posts while I looked up the layout. Thanks for the thorough rundown!
Cecil Newman (29th) will have a two-way bikeway on the south side as part of the Nicollet project, but that interim period needs some attention then www.minneapolismn.gov/media/-www-c...

The voting area is for election judges/staff and voters only!

This is explicitly why the results tape goes up outside the voting area when the polls are closed. You get votes cast plus the actual results. oof
3/ Had to block a candidate’s campaign manager from coming into the voting area to look at the votes cast count on the tabulator. He just wasn’t a permitted person according to our training. First time he got through an unsuspecting judge. Second time they caught him in time for me to stop him.
One access point for the big sewer project under Washington Ave was right outside of their place for over a year. At times you couldn't even tell there was a storefront there

Thank you so much for covering this.

Systemic problems are hard to address and take introspection to ID weaknesses in a current system and make changes: egos are very likely to get bruised. When set against people losing their lives, denial and deflection to avoid accountability are unconscionable
i’m at hennepin county government center for a press conference from commissioner irene fernando and domestic violence service providers are calling for transparency, accountability and action from the city’s leaders in the wake of mariah samuels’ murder
Thanks for linking it! I was having trouble finding that post
Looks like it already got painted over but 311 did close my case in 24 hours. Offensive graffiti seems to get quick attention

Notes: Case Referred to Other Jurisdiction PW-BRIDGE WAS NOTIFIED OF GRAFFITI ON 10/30/25
Reported.

We'll see how this shakes out getting the info to the right people to clean it off
This seems like an obvious positive angle to say 'we have to move this due to popular demand!' and more people would hear about it and attend. That's how you get people interested and activated in the party

This almost in my backyard. If flagged to 311 would they figure out who has jurisdiction?
I'll be signing up for whatever I can fit in my schedule!

Doorknocking may seem intimidating, but you get guidance on what to do and you get more comfortable even after your first few doors. If you believe in a councilmember who supports renters and addressing climate change, sign up!

Thanks, Laura! We do get this question a lot (and sometimes emails intended for the other) 😆

Consider applying to our [separate] boards!
On a group ride last night someone asked if @ourstreetsmn.org and @streets.mn were the same organization.

We are not.

BUT our missions are well-aligned AND both orgs are looking for new board members! Board service is a great way to learn, help, and meet awesome people.

I was thinking about this too: If this is the first milestone then list the next one and give some stats on what this actually means. These are also only cases filed by community members.
