If you want people to ride your system, it must operate frequently.

Merry Christmas to all the operators who showed up today.

(I'm still salty at getting ghosted on my 30 minute frequency bus real early this morning though).

But shout-out to those who were there!
A special merry Christmas to everyone operating public services today

Building community can be as simple as cooking a big pot of chicken soup and offering a bowl to your neighbors.

I hear people say, people don't bike in my neighborhood.

No, people don't bike on the main streets in your neighborhood because they're terrified of being hit, and because you primarily drive on main streets, they are invisible to you.

The reason why people will point out this distinction is that decision-makers will often fund the recreational infrastructure that doesn't serve the needs of people who rely on bikes for transportation, and then say they don't need to build protected infrastructure.
I get really annoyed when people argue that recreation/bike tourism is not a legitimate reason for infrastructure. How many roads do we have in this country that are just for access to beaches, ski resorts, or theme parks?
If drivers aren't given not just access, but redundant and convenient access to every sq inch of the country they flip out

Meanwhile for pedestrians and cyclists it's like "do they really need to cross this body of water? do they really need the freedom to go there? they might do it for recreation!

We will pack their community meeting at 722 Payne Ave on December 16th at 6pm. If you can't make it then, there's an additional time at 9am.

Press are welcome to attend.

I definitely don't trust Bob "Sundown Towns" Fletcher to not have Ramsey County assist with crowd control like Hennepin County did today
Hennepin County dispatch got a panicked call from a Department of Homeland Security supervisor in Minneapolis requesting assistance because “we only have a few officers but we have 60-70 agitators fighting them.” Hennepin deputies didn’t witness any attacks on agents.

High Frequency transit is important because you never know when you can't find something on the way out the door, and it would be nice if I didn't have to wait 30 minutes for the next bus when I live in a dense area.

My least popular (and most correct) view is that cars should be automatically limited to the local speed limit. Put the pedal to the floor and you still can't go over 25mph in a residential area.

(15 in Manhattan btw)
There is no possible justification for limiting e-bikes to 15mph but not cars.

New Met Council members are appointed in 2026. One of the questions in the interview should be how often do you ride the bus!
Despite being in charge of the Twin Cities' transit system, many of the people on the Met Council essentially never ride it.

The funny thing is we've known this for over a decade. It continues to be true, everybody says "that seems bad," and then nothing changes

@metrotransitmn.bsky.social I don't want to fare evade but when I only have cash like I do today, and both ticket machines at the eastbound platform of the Mounds Blvd Gold Line station say this, I have too.

We need infrastructure that stands up to all seasons!

@streets.mn article idea for someone with more time right now than me

How ICE actions are affecting the ability for some of our neighbors to participate in a walkable city?

How can bus riders look out for their fellow passengers?

If you live near a bus stop, how can you help be a lookout?
