Reform accepted £9 million from a former Boris Johnson backer & crypto-multimillionaire.

Today, Nigel Farage postures as a righteous defender of the same democracy he actively undermines.

Democracy should never be for sale. It's time for a cap on political donations.

🧵How much should the NHS worry about this winter's flu wave?

You may have seen this alarming headline on the BBC website today...

I think it's too early to make this claim and the data does not support it.

I think it will be a bad flu season but no evidence to think worse than previous yrs

I’ve plotted the number of hospital admissions for flu per 100,000 population for each of the last 4 winters, from UKHSA data.

it is immediately apparent that this year is several weeks earlier than normal. 3/8

In a surprise to absolutely no one, the mum she’s describing is not claiming benefits as a “lifestyle choice”.

This paywalled article is full of “in my grandparents day, blah blah blah” and nasty sneery comments about latest iPhones for spoilt children🙄

The issue is that a woman working full time on a decent salary cannot afford rent on a one bed flat and the cost of childcare to allow her to work

THAT’S what should be being called out

But the RW media don’t want people questioning THAT

Better to vilify those struggling to make ends meet

"I spoke to one 80-year-old woman who has been in our organisation for decades, who said it was one of the greatest experiences of her life, and the only place in her 80 years where she’s been treated as a woman with respect.”

What does this do for women's rights?

For a GP to conclude that there isn't enough evidence to support a sick note requires a much more thorough examination and patient history than "I'm going to deny your experience based off one short observation and no questioning of your symptoms."

"Once in the mindset of “I’m too sick to work”, it’s very hard to get back out."
Is it though? Do we actually have evidence of that? Real evidence, not healthy people putting their own interpretations onto the internal reality of living with chronic illness?

The cognitive dissonance on show to rewrite the message of Christianity just to justify your hatred agenda, is beyond parody. It's beyond anger. It's now compassion for that lost soul. It's now prayers for her. Love is the only way forwards now. The more they hate, the more we need to love.

🧵/ Today a damning parliamentary report on the state of palliative care services in England was published.

Services are patchy, underfunded & “ill-equipped” to address end-of-life needs.

Bereavement support is “frequently inaccessible.

The palliative care workforce is in a “critical” situation”.

Motability costs £1 billion

Both are valuable to the folk who get them, and yet we save our pitchforks and torches for disabled people

Patriotism and prejudice in the UK’s ‘Raise the Colours’ campaign

The red-cross flag of St George has become a common sight in recent times – is it for a shared love of country or a ‘Keep Out’ sign?

How much do we spend on welfare?

Total welfare spending in Britain in 2025-26 is estimated to be 10.8 per cent of GDP – just 0.8 per cent of GDP higher than 2007-08.

Since 2012-13, total welfare spending has actually fallen by 1.2 per cent of GDP.

There are two reasons that Motability includes “premium” brands:
1/ they are often the ones that meet the needs of the users with features like parking assistance for those who cannot see behind them
2/ the leases are often cheaper than non premium brands as their resale value is so much higher […]
