Disabled folk don’t just deserve survival.
They deserve love, support, compassion, respect…
And to have the means and ability to live the best quality of life possible for them, in their circumstances.
This should be the bare minimum.

Only (hopefully) one more day to put up with my arsehole…
Still won't believe it'll happen until I'm in the operating theatre... But I hope it just goes ahead and I get it over with now.

Not going to lie, I’m shitting it about my surgery. It’s a big op and lots of other things make it very tricky.
Trying to ignore it until it happens, but with travelling tomorrow and having to have a ton of laxatives today… feeling awful whilst being nervous isn’t a good mix.

Disabled people don't need to be "inspirational" or "strong" to deserve support and respect.
There should be no hierarchy, no superiority...
All humans are worthy of support and compassion.

Social Media absolutely is "In real life"
It influences people, crates new social norms, instigates violence, influences public policy, is a medium for harmful propaganda, etc...
Too many "other" it, because it suits them to

There is a concerted, sustained attack against disabled people by the media and government. Both here in the UK and elsewhere.
However, there is no recourse for their blatant misinformation and disinformation.
There are no consequences.
They can lie, then lie some more, and get away with it all.

The conflation of mental illnesses with “mental health” has been super harmful for so many people…
It means that debilitating conditions and life limiting illnesses are minimised and dismissed as “normal emotions and reactions to everyday life”.

My book Ramping Up Rights aims to arm disabled people with our history and how we fought, so that we can still fight today. The gov and media want disabled people to feel isolated, because we are so strong when we come together - and that terrifies them.

Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of the Disability Discrimination Act. The absolute tumbleweed from the media & gov shows just how much they want to bury how much disabled people fought and still fight for our rights.

Misogynistic men oppress and harm themselves by upholding Patriarchy.
They play victim in every situation despite knowingly participating and upholding the thing that’s causing men harm... Then blaming women and feminism for all the problems they create.
It’s pathetic tbh.

Abled folk imagine being disabled and unable to work like a day of annual leave, where they can do whatever they want.
In reality, it’s like a sick day, where you are unable to do anything you want, because your body is unable to function.
And not just one day, but every day.

The average office employee is only productive for about 3 hours out of an 8-hour workday.
I spend longer than that each day on my living room floor, rolling around, massaging my abdomen, managing pain.
We do more than a full time job just to survive.

We need to talk about, and remove the stigma surrounding bodily functions, conditions, and experiences which are clouded by misogyny.
Menstruation, menopause, PCOS, endometriosis, pregnancy, abortions, infertility, and so much more.
Support, not shame.
Education, not stigma.

Yes, disabled people deserve nice things too.
They deserve hobbies, social lies, things that bring a bit of joy to life.
Maybe the use money they’ve earned through employment to buy it.
Maybe they spend their benefits on it.
Either way, it’s their money and their right.

Anyone who thinks misogyny is “just banter”, is someone I don’t want to know, spend time with, or be associated with in any way.
This is literally one of my most fundamental morals and principles.
Misogyny should be a hate crime.

For many of us, the most we can do is shout and advocate on Social Media.
Because… well we’re actually disabled.
And it means we don’t have the time, energy, or capacity to do any more.
And for some they can’t even do this. Doesn’t mean they’re bad people.

Disability benefits here in the UK are less than most people believe.
They're harder to get than most people believe.
Fraud is lower than most people believe.
The evidence you need to get them is more than most people believe.
The Government and media rely on this collective ignorance.

If every single political party on the far-right holds a particular social view (e.g. anti trans)…
It’s pretty safe to say that the social view is a far-right one.
If all the worst misogynists hold a social view (e.g. anti trans)…
It’s pretty safe to say it’s misogynistic.

Here in the UK, only about 1 in every 9 ADHD folk actually have a diagnosis.

Anyone who makes bullshit claims like “the most vulnerable will be protected”, simply doesn’t understand how things work in reality.
When you add restrictions into a system, the most vulnerable are the FIRST to be harmed.

Every disabled person is "genuinely disabled".
It's pretty simple really.
And yes a significant proportion of the UK population are disabled.
Poverty, inequality, NHS underfunding, aging population, a Pandemic all have a significant impact on that.
They're all still disabled.

Just because we don't currently know the cause(s) for certain conditions or symptoms, it doesn't mean that there isn't one.
It just means we haven't found it yet... And we may never do so given how complex bodies are.

That disabled person you are judging?
Chances are they are already doing far more than they “should”, to the detriment of their own health.
Chances are they are acting “fine”, to make you feel more comfortable.
Chances are they'll get home and struggle to function as a result.

I don’t wish my disabilities on anyone. But sometimes I do wish that certain people could feel what I do, and live with what I have to, for just one day.
They would very quickly realise how ignorant they are… and how hard it is just to get through every day
