I started a politics/opinion blog!

My perspective on the future of the so-called "Special Relationship" between the UK and the US in the new era of Trump's international gangsterism.
The 'Special Relationship' is over
You cannot cultivate a relationship with the political equivalent of the Sword of Damocles.

Canada, among many other nations, rushed to the aid and defence of the US after it invoked Article 5 after 9/11.

194 Canadians gave their lives in that effort.

Canadians provided sanctuary and relief to stranded Americans when their flights were diverted after 9/11.

This windbag can fuck off.
More breathtaking arrogance here...and he's saying while visiting Canada.

Someone needs to send this MF a bill for our participation in their massive failure of a war in Afghanistan. How much are our dead and wounded worth?

Never fails to make me smile the way politicians understand the problem of short time horizons and embrace the 'objective of getting government to think further forward' once they are.... no longer politicians. www.thetimes.com/comment/colu...

Russia is coming apart at the seams & they know they risk collapse if the war continues, so they got their cucked rapey big brother to help pressure their victim into surrender.

For a regime that wants to disengage from Europe they're extraordinarily preoccupied with it. Just fuck off if you want.
The Guardian reports that the U.S. plan incl several lines that were certainly drafted in RU before being translated. In EN they sound unnatural and out of place.
Example, 3rd point: “Russia is expected not to invade neighbouring countries, and NATO is expected not to expand further.”

Who gives a shit.

Donate it or voluntarily pay more in tax if you're that discomforted by your obscene wealth. Just fuck off and stop bothering us with your "woes".
The fear of not having enough money is familiar. But there’s a quieter struggle at the top: feeling uncomfortable with having too much, says money psychotherapist Vicky Reynal ⬇️

This. We should have a fair, equitable, and just immigration system that works for all.

Instead, Starmer & Mahmood are taking a leaf out of the Trumpian manual and instituting a pay-to-play system that works for and rewards only the highest earners, while leaving everyone else in limbo.
Shabana Mahmood's Indefinite Leave To Remain Culture War

3 years - if you're earning £125k+

15 years - if you're e.g. a nurse, or a teacher

Labour's two tier system which rewards high earners and insults those who work just as hard but don't earn as much - really sad to see Labour fall

The Lords does need to go and be replaced (though I don't want another elected chamber), but it's funny that people always find the bravery to criticise its undemocratic nature when it's doing its job on bills they personally like.

Possibly the most inept Parliamentarian we've ever had. Bad Enoch is just dismally pathetic.
Kemi Badenoch tells Keir Starmer that he is leading "the first government in history to float increasing income tax rates only to then U-turn on it all after the actual budget".

Starmer: "The Budget is next week"

Right there with you. I've been playing since the first GTA, and IV is the best for sure. V feels a bit insecure in its identity, and I honestly just got bored with seemingly every mission being set up for a heist, before doing said heist. Lather, rinse, repeat.
It’s kinda funny that GTA IV was my first GTA game, because it (+ Red Dead Redemption) gave me a totally skewed view of what to expect from the series. So I just did not like GTA V much at all
I like the vibe and the way it’s narratively structured like a GTA game (but one with sympathetic characters like GTA IV, not caricatures like GTA V) but, mechanically, I struggle. I feel like it’s trying to do too many things and feels… shallow as a result, despite being fairly intricate

"Ahkshyually it's ephebophilia" is becoming the common refrain now on the right as they close ranks to protect their child sex abusing leaders.

Even those who "claimed" to have somewhat broken from Trump like Hanania always know where their loyalties really lay.

We're watching an entrenched political establishment commit suicide in real time.

Mahmood is expected to tell critics: "if you don't like this, you won't like what follows me". Fuck you, and fuck this extortion. I'm sick of it.

The Labour Party is dead and no longer worth supporting.
This is as bad as anything proposed by Reform.

Lol, what are they going to do, mandate that only turkey can be sold with prison sentences for buying ham?

I like how these mind-numbingly morally weak morons pretend that traditions have just been fixed since time immemorial, and haven't been in constant flux since time began.

Important
How social media has made us all unpaid serfs, slaving for free to get attention.
And how the mistaken belief in meritocracy glorifies the rich and successful while making those who struggle think they are to blame.
🧵 I’ve talked a lot about disordered discourse, conspiracies, polarisation, denialism. But maybe the better question is: why does this keep happening? Why does our shared reality keep fracturing? What are the drivers I talk about as a dimension of disordered discourse?
I've just come back from the Cambridge Disinformation Summit where I gave the opening keynote, titled "Demanufacturing Consent - How Disordered Discourse is Destroying Democracy", featuring everything from Fake Hooves to Jackson Hinkle being the worst.
