Been working on a map for a commission and it might be one of my favorite things I've ever done. Very proud of the sphere of influence notation and that awful Iraq border

The problem with the “Oh, do you want a cookie?” approach is that yes, people do want cookies. Their monkey brains have evolved to repeat behaviors which are rewarded and avoid repeating behaviors that are punished.

It's so awesome that the Soviets built their space program using brute force and trains. The very designs of the their rockets were constrained by the diameter of bridges and tunnels on the railways to Kazakhstan

I will be damned if I allow a bunch of Confederate-waving January 6th apologists give the American people a lecture on flag waving.

There is ZERO reason to enter an argument about patriotism with people who still worship traitors to America 150+ years later.

They. Are. Breaking. The. Law.

I know posting "the girls are fighting" seems funny, but it's actually insensitive and shitty.

My father died in a girl fight. He tried to break it up and the girls pulled him apart like freshly baked bread. He didn't even scream. One moment he was there, the next just a spray of dad viscera.

The vast majority of people in Gaza — 93 percent — are facing crisis levels of food insecurity, and Sen. Chris Van Hollen said that the United States is “complicit” in their hunger.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen said the blocking of food and aid into Gaza is "collective punishment" and called on Trump to ask Israel to lift their blockade.

its remarkable the total collapse of political media in the united states, a dying industry that is styles themselves as brave truth tellers but actually don't want to do any of the work to find or cover the truth
Me Too is a huge under discussed cause, they feel that they had a right to have sex with young developers at companies they invested in and any pushback resulted in a meltdown. They also wanted to be treated like gods for running scammy crypto companies.

1/ The Trump Administration is seeking to force foreign companies worldwide to ban diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes within their firms if they want to do business with the US government. It's an aggressive expansion of its anti-DEI crusade. ⬇️

Now I'm thinking about combining my previously considered "Andrew Johnson assassinated in 1865 causing a special presidential election and marginally more radical reconstruction" PoD with the Austro-Prussian War stuff I've been working on for the AHD rewrite. Kinda like it, I dunno.
I have a lot of cool new ideas for the US and CSA in the AHD rewrite, but honestly the stuff outside America is most exciting.

Part of me is wondering if a better way to break my funk would be to stop trying to untangle the AHD strings and just write something new using another 1860s PoD.

Every time I sit down to try and write recently, I find myself just rewriting the first sentence over and over again, or otherwise getting stuck before I even begin. It's infuriating.
