Here's a video of the impossible. The UP Express has high platforms and level boarding for passengers. That is supposed make it impossible for mainline North American freight trains to pass. And yet, as this shows, CN freight trains roll past the high platform at Weston multiple times per week.

Charlie Kirk was a white supremacist who pushed the racist Great Replacement Theory. Kirk was vociferously anti-LGBTQ. Kirk's final words were to besmirch Black people.

Stop this revisionism. People who say bad things don't deserve to be murdered, but they also don't deserve to be praised either.

The saddest thing about interacting with MAGAtards is that when I observe as a Chinese person how America is shooting itself in the face I find the whole thing quite funny but when I talk about it as an American I find that I have a lot of pent up anger over what’s happened to this country.

The correct response to the basic EA case is "that's a pretty good idea",

Not "this explains EVERYTHING" or "this idea is bad because you can't possible value or calculate anything, also, unrelated, I'm a total wordcel and hate numbers and empiricism out of principle, in this video essay I will"
Effective altruism discourse is a real motte Bailey thing where both the critics and the defenders are doing it.

How can you have a meaningful resistance to Trump when half of the power brokers see a chance to get one over their enemies from within by allying with him?

The utter cowardice of the congressional Democrats. They let Republicans and their donors slander and humiliate them every single day and let their constituents be disappeared by the secret police, all so their colleagues might call them friends after they're out of office. They deserve to lose.
literally every day is going to provide more evidence that the "let's provide some votes for the least bad trump nominees out of respect for the presidency" was a boneheaded strategy. any idiot could have told senate democrats that any vote for any of these people was going to make them look bad.

he's not a sharp thinker, he's not a sharp writer, he's not a compelling presence, but he dresses up racism in pseudoscience and a lot of these guys are convinced that they're smarter than everyone else and want a reason to believe it, and he gives it to them

i wonder this all the time and the conclusion you have to come to is that they like hanania and think he's a clever edgelord for views they do not find particularly objectionable.
Is there a coherent reason why people go to bat for him? He seems just completely unnecessary, entirely disposable as a thinker

TPOT is the *first* people you'd expect him to lose, it's an unusual combination of being hyper aware of events with weak ideological commitments

You can *easily* lose people like that and still have a decisive (in EC terms) bloc of voters go "the GOP will secure the border and cut waste 🙂" in 2028

Q: Does the Dear Leader ever pee or poo?

A: In his radiant fervor to Make America Great Again, our National Father and First Citizen Trump burns more than 3000% of the calories he consumes every day directly into energy. He therefore produces no waste, and does not use the bathroom.

US natsec elites across the spectrum have fretted about Chinese capital along the Panama Canal, going back nearly a decade (that I've seen) including throughout the Biden admin. Trump can use this as proof of concept for his playbook of imperial bullying. Could he win some people over?

man, I'm sick, Al Green being removed is pure racist theater for Trump's base. The rest of the Dems should have walked out to protest this, that they did not means it reads like the Trumpists want it to read: uppity Negro put in his place.

i generally stay out of the masculinity discourse because i just don’t care about it very much, but this endless fucking whining and refusal to simply take accountability for one’s own behavior is about as far from any representation of positive masculinity as i can imagine
JD Vance: "Our culture sends a message to young men that you should suppress every masculine urge ... my message to young men is don't allow this broken culture to send you a message that you're a bad person bc you're a man, bc you like to tell a joke, bc you like to have a beer with your friends."

This is why I think Elon goes the way of Ernst Röhm, and fast, as soon as things start really going bad. Musk has no real constituency in the Republican party, he's the most obvious scapegoat in the history of scapegoats.
NEW: Nearly half of likely U.S. voters — as well as two-thirds of Democrats and half of independents — say that Elon Musk has made them less likely to get a Tesla.

That’s a big rise from similar polls in 2023, which had found Elon made adults *more* likely to go Tesla.
