The latest episode of Pluribus featured some of the most artfully placed bubbles I've ever seen. Bravo to their bubble wrangler.

The thing is we've known that housing the homeless is cheaper than neglect, we've known that Ubi is effective at eliminating poverty, we've known that heavily subsidized housing and education leads people into the middle class, we've known all of these things in some cases for 70 years.
“In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Those affected receive a small apartment & counselling with no preconditions. 4 out of 5 people affected make their way back into a stable life. And all this is CHEAPER than accepting homelessness.”

It costs a lot less to house people.
Finland ends homelessness and provides shelter for all in need - scoop.me
In Finland, the number of homeless people has fallen sharply. Why? The country applies the "Housing First" concept agains homelessness.

And I don't care how basic I sound, because without hope, we have despair. Despair becomes nihilism. And nihilism breeds fascism.

Important thing to understand is that the UK press, having had to concede the issue "racism is bad," have been working very hard to define racism as being just "saying the really bad slurs out loud, and even then it's ok if you're just joking." So this is right on their turf.
The fact there's even the tiniest hint of a debate about whether or not this very obviously racist man who has built his entire career on being a racist is a racist or not. I... I just can't.
Everyone’s talking about whether Farage was racist to schoolchildren as a boy when he was racist to schoolchildren THIS WEEK. All the kids who are of reading age can read what he says about them.

Farage is all over the place - is the story that

a) he never did a racism; or
b) everyone was doing a racism,* so his racism didn't count

It can't be both

*anyway some people were *not* doing a racism - and Manning/ITV are not leaders of a political party
ITV are now asking Farage about his schoolboy comments and Farage is talking over the correspondent and instead ranting about Bernard Manning and how Manning appeared on ITV in the past. This is all quite odd.

There’s so much incredible architecture and design in Lincoln Cathedral. This intricately carved doorway, and view down through vaulting and arches, is one of my favourite bits. Not only is the detail stunning, but you are taken from a soaring and open space into a more intimate and enclosed one 😀

I see the Indy is also going with asylum seekers being “banned” from doing something they were being forced to do unwillingly in the first place, so presumably this is how the Home Office‘s press release is framing its own admissions of incompetence and waste

Literally!! The right wing papers Hate You Anyway!! Why not give them something to Really Hate You For, and know - at least - people will thank you in ten years time???
Serious howls of outrage in the media this morning at what is a relatively modest Budget from Labour that does nothing more than fiddle around the margins.

It does highlight the missed opportunity. If you’re going to get this reaction anyway, why not at least get it for attempting a big swing?

Can you end racism by giving ground to racists?

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood seems to think so.

Really enjoying @podsavetheuk.crooked.com this week if only for just how viscerally angry both Nish and Coco are with Shabana Mahmood and Labour for their attempts to paper over that bottomless pit of hate. Too fucking right.

Blimey that was an uncomfortable position to put Zelah in. His gentle but firm handling of that just showed why he should've been involved at the top end tonight. #bbuk

Let us all give thanks that this, the most cursed series of #bbuk, is finally coming to a close. Never has a series so consistently evicted my favourite housemates, it's been little more than a hate watch for half the run. We had just one good week result wise, last week, & apart from that garbage.
November 14, 2025 at 9:03 PM
Watching last nights #bbuk and glad to be removed from the appalling result that I already know happened. Teja leaving last night is one of the most unjust evictions ever, particularly in the context of Emily getting more votes than her. I refuse to believe people have considered her more deserving.

Basic people will whine about an episode like today, but that resolution between Elsa and Cameron was bloody lovely. And it's the sort of excellent moment that there is less time for when so much of the edit is given over to so-called 'entertaining' bellends. #bbuk
