Alas! We lost our game of chicken with the snow gods. SomerCon is postponed, but we’ll figure out a new date soon! All tickets are good for the rescheduled event, and we’re going to try to keep all the programming the same too, so just hang tight.

Stay warm and safe out there!

The other day I was passing the “kidport” area at Logan Airport with all the illustrations from Massachusetts children’s authors, and it reminded me of this question because I want to be on that wall someday

I see there's "are bookshops a good place to discover books" discourse going on and I am happy to say I have my 2025 stats on this and the answer is yes, they are.

it won’t make you faster or better at anything but for five minutes the other third graders will think you’re cool
yeah, just out of interest, how many people choose the pen on the right for real work or art? See a lot of them in professional workplaces, do you?

If you have a 3D printer, you can now download software to print out lots of whistles, all embedded with the phone number for LUCE, the local immigrant rapid-response group.

Pick up the nearest book. Turn to page 42, post the second sentence.

“What does it matter how this grief of mine evolves or what I do with it?”

‘Even though there were no visible gates a risk still existed.’

I’m usually so bad at taking my own advice, but I’m gonna hang onto this one because I still feel this way. Art by itself won’t save us by itself, but community can. And I think it will.
Not to be unkind, but I am so impatient about the “what’s the point of making my little zines/comics/crafts/art when the world is on fire” sentiments. I get it, but saving the world is not a responsibility shouldered by your art! That’s what being a neighbor, a friend, and hell, a citizen is for!!!

”I’ll give you three guesses…No. No. You suck at this.” has lived in my head for years

I recently found it again; it’s from one of the My So-Called Life recaps on Television Without Pity
