Deep down everyone over 35 just wants Lord Reith to tell them what to do, even if they don’t know it… ? 🤷‍♂️
I think I really did not see coming was that Netflix's moat would be 'no-one else has a good grip on what people actually want to watch and how to display it to them'.
I love how a decade of reinventing TV later we’ve ended up with “Brits just want to watch old ITV dramas and Channel 5 documentaries but they don’t know where to find them until you let them just hit the big Netflix button on their remote”.

The best response to something like this was someone on twitter and came back with "I see you all got mad, I was out having a picnic with my bf and won't read any of this, hope you had as much fun as I did"
Always love when I see a post doing numbers that goes 'cake is nice!' and then 12 hours later comments are off and/or the OP has added 'for clarity, I am not saying that if you prefer biscuits you should be killed, nor do I wish to eliminate diabetics or coeliacs from society'
this comic is broadly calling out politicians for talking about mental health without talking about funding for mental health care that people consent to and want. It is *not* saying “people being committed against their will and forced onto medication is good” didn’t think I’d have to clarify that

Very fair from Stanley Tucci here

I’m stealing his lamb chop recipe too ❤️

There are no words
I'm not sure I can possibly imagine a worse place to live than this Chelsea FC themed block of flats in Dubai.

Is Stanley Tucci taking the piss… or have I missed something here?

📢PR Stunt Alert: Panera just dropped a designer croissant clutch, because carbs and couture are the perfect pairing. 🥐

It's not for me this one.

In personal news it would appear that, despite being fully qualified, I have once more been overlooked for the position of Pontifex Maximus.

Interesting point here on political comms

An observation that can be applied beyond this weekend as a general rule
If you need to found an intellectual movement with a name to tell you that ‘ordinary voters’ care about crime immigration and good jobs in their home town then **you are not the solution you are the problem**

Interesting piece from @markurban.bsky.social
The American War of Independence began 250 years ago today. What did those redcoats say about the rebels in their private letters and journals? Here’s your weekend read markurban.substack.com/p/its-250-ye...

I feel like if you encounter a vampire and they aren’t rich that improves your odds substantially. Bro is immortal but couldn’t figure out how to get compound interest to work in his favor, he’s not exactly a mastermind. Keep your wits about you and you’re probably fine.

Cruel and unusual punishment for all @economist.com staff today
Days like this I am really pleased not to work at the Economist. Which goes to print tomorrow morning.

I think the best response to ‘is globalisation over?’ is ‘are Nintendo suspending Switch 2 preorders in every country or just the USA?’

Interesting piece for any comms professionals. The challenge is always to get engagement and cut through at scale tho
After @politicshome.bsky.social revealed that the UK govt set up its own Reddit, The Times wrote that it could be the "new battleground that could swing elections"

@mattnavarra.com: "It's about reaching the disillusioned, the politically curious, those flirting with Reform or sitting on the fence”
Why Reddit is the new battleground that could swing elections
Labour, threatened by the digitally savvy Reform, wants to break away from mainstream media to make contact with the scrappy, sceptical social network

I want to be @mariephillips.bsky.social’s dad
Just got an email from my mum to tell me that my dad is sailing across the channel. In a sailing boat. Right now. With three friends. They left at 4am this morning. I spoke to him a few days ago and he didn’t mention this plan. He’ll be back on Thursday. My dad is 87 years old.

It's just so boring.
Why are journalists trying to make ministers either insult America or squirm as they try not to? Why’s this Nick Robinson’s focus on #Today? Will a “gotcha” save jobs?

Mike Creighton was a wonderful person and colleague. This is such sad news
Very sorry to hear of the sudden death of Mike Creighton, a friend and comrade and much loved by all who worked with him in Labour.
