So glad that Keir Starmer is doing things to help "enhance the UK!s creative industries"... This should help me get a better salary and more security.

BIG news for architectural labour protests as Bjarke Ingels doesn't make enough millions a year to year his workers fairly. Seems like employment can't have the hedonistic sustainability he goes on about...

This is awful. It's over complicated, and weirdly includes the London Underground logo even though it's the Italian embassy for all of Britain.

The Italian Embassy's new logo looks surprisingly familiar | Creative Bloq share.google/yyidlaOk0UaR...

Can’t believe Labour are briefing such a poor line, when an obvious response is “why is the party who blocked a local candidate from running because he’s midway through his political term calling a London Assembly member ‘chicken’ for not running to be MP of a constituency 160 miles from his home?”
A Labour spokesperson, responding to Zack Polanski’s interview with Laura Kuenssberg, said: "If [he] thought the Greens had a chance in Gorton and Denton he wouldn't have chickened out standing himself."

This is pretty weak IMO - Polanski is a serving London Assembly member and lives in Hackney...

Thank god that the art market Kapoor soaks himself in is not similarly "deeply entrenched in money and gross capitalism". This seems like a really clever, considered, meaningful response to awful people putting awful things into space.

Coincidentally, I did ask him if he could do the Tate Turbine Hall one day and he said he didn't think he could!

A year later, he will be.

Architecturally, I guess so. It's very simple and truly just a big framework.
Culturally, harder to say. It is huge, will require very nuanced, heavy programming that needs a lot of community buy in.

I don't really understand. The things you like about what was possible were a product of the things you don't want to happen. They were the process, not another possibility.
January 29, 2026 at 10:50 PM
Yes. That was led by the architects and curators to determine the use and programmes of the space. Left as an abandoned site like that would in no way have worked for artworks or a cultural organisation, and would not had had any funding

Today i went to Brussels to see an enormous arts centre that's really more masterplan than architecture.

The Evening Standard isn't media or interested in meditating. It's just propaganda

It's such a dereliction of duty that the local paper for a city like London can't discuss serious subjects like housing & planning unless it's through the lens of Marvel, someone from Squeeze, a bitpart actor from Miranda and Marvel. It's so grotesquely patronising & fucked up.
