I saw Shawn Colvin in 1998. She was pregnant at the time, so there were signs posted all over the club saying that smoking was prohibited. For years, I marveled that it was the only show I'd ever been to where the shower didn't release the smell of stale smoke from my hair the next morning.
this is a good reminder of how things that are shitty but have been accepted as normal and inevitable can actually turn out to be abnormal and evitable with some science, time, education and political will

I don't know where I'm going with this, except that I don't want to write off the folks who might fall prey to it, because, jeez, it certainly has to be easy to fall prey to it. ESPECIALLY with projects that one might not think of as being "their" art, their field.
