End of shutdown kicked things off, feel neutral about it.

I've had decades to connect with Talking Heads' MORE SONGS ABOUT BUILDINGS AND FOOD, and the new Super Deluxe Edition still hasn't made it happen. But hats off to the book, which shows that they sent out branded pocket protectors as promo items at the time. Gotta admit, they knew their audience.

POINT OF ORDER: The Ramones were canonically, foundationally, definitionally a four-dork band.
Sustainable band lineups include four cool people (Ramones), four dorks (Weezer), or two cool people and two dorks (Cheap Trick). Unsustainable band lineups include one cool person and three dorks (Pixies)

I spoke with Price and Bolles (Rachael & Vilray to their friends) about writing a New York album without intending to, singing with Stephen Colbert, how Rachael's R&V voice is different from her Lake Street Dive voice and how many "Blue Moon"s is too many "Blue Moon"s.
Rachael & Vilray (and Stephen Colbert) share a musical slice of New York - The Boston Globe
The duo, which includes Lake Street Dive member Rachael Price, serves up jazzy throwbacks to the Great American Songbook era on their new album.

I hate James Austin Johnson's Trump. I hate James Austin Johnson's Trump so much. I've always hated it, but this season especially, they've decided that he's the solution to any sketch, shoving him into sketches where he has no business being (like the Sabrina Carpenter teen-boy podcast sketch).

While I agree that this is indeed a narrative problem, it should be mentioned that FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (the fifth James Bond book) ends with Bond dying after being kicked with a poisoned shoe, and DR. NO (book #6) starts with "... but he didn't, tho."
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

If Musk is so damn smart, why is he sleeping only six hours a night and working 80-100 hours a week?
Musk put an aside in his own online encyclopedia about how he supposedly lost 20 pounds

It's also fun to imagine that this is the raw footage for the rotating head that flickers in and out through the "Head Like A Hole" video.
Just noticed on an old VHS that Robert Patrick was wearing a NIN shirt when he was 3D scanned for the T-1000. That would have been 1990, so he was proudly supporting his brother Richard Patrick, who was in a new band called Nine Inch Nails at the time.

This is not the most important thing, but given the hagiography here it's not not important: "building rockets" and "sending cars into space" are functionally only one thing.

Folks, I have SUCH a good reply (supportive) to a skeet by an account that I don't have authorization to reply to or quote. This is a catastrophe.

I did a performance thing at Six Flags New England for a hot minute ages ago, and this is almost exactly the insane marching orders we were given at the weirdly intense orientation. I was only there for extra cash -- it wasn't my job-job like it was for most of the others -- and I was like "...no."
"Store employees are now required to smile if they are within 10 feet of a shopper.

They also must make eye contact with and wave to or greet the customer.

If they’re within four feet, the employee should ask how the customer’s day is going or if they need help."

🙄 Won't stop the boycott, y'all.
Target is now requiring its employees to smile more

"Hey, Marc, how was John Legend?"
Review & setlist: John Legend was a legendary pro at MGM Fenway (and he knew it)
John Legend hit the Boston stage with a sense of confidence, accomplishment, and maybe a bit of entitlement.

"Hey, Marc, how was Robert Plant's Saving Grace featuring Suzi Dian?"
Review & setlist: At the Shubert, Robert Plant's quest to keep evolving was on full display

I mean, 1) it's really condescending to demand they be freed just because they didn't vote the way you wanted, 2) who are you to gatekeep who is and who isn't a New Yorker, knock off the scare quotes, c'mon, but mostly 3) this is really disappointing political commentary coming from a library.
