lol mike johnson isn't committing to doing the ACA house vote once this is over. the democratic party has somehow stabbed itself in the back.

chuck schumer isn't playing 4D, 3D or 2D chess. he's just playing with himself.

they are able to peel back the ACA because its a shitty half measure but if we had gotten real universal healthcare instead no one would dare touch it because literally everybody on all sides would flip out. one more reason why Democratic incrementalism and "pragmatism" is fucking stupid !!!!!

i think if the democrats had dug in their heels and said "this is the epstein shutdown. trump is starving the country because he doesn't want the epstein files to come out" they probably could have ended him. so it was very kind of them to not do that

the reality is that they have already won & they do not want to change anything. they want a strong republican party, as they say often. the only time they put any work in is to sabotage candidates running to the left of them, otherwise they just sit around doing insider trading

getting harder to argue that the establishment democrats actually care about winning and accomplishing things, isn't it. in the sense of defeating the republicans and enacting the policies they run on, anyway

hey assholes who said you were going to leave new york if mamdani wins, you are not welcome in boston. you are the wrong kind of asshole for this city.

you can either stay there and live in a socialist paradise or fuck off to somewhere with low taxes because we know it's really just about that.

There’s no reason ever again for any Democrat to suggest moderating on trans rights. There was never a moral reason but now there’s no political reason either.

Somebody tell Gavin Newsom and Pete Buttigieg. it’s joe-ver.

you can make the 'a vote for labour is a vote for farage' argument in a vote splitting sense now the greens are doing so well if you like, but it is also true in the more immediate sense of them having the same fucking politics

Excessive force. PERIOD!

They called them “violent mobs,” but the violence came from the guys with badges and body armor.

The failure of the “blue no matter who” crowd to rally behind Mamdani really just lays the reality of that position bare, doesn’t it?

Considering making a GM screen that's all the basic rules printed on the player facing side and just heaps of naked elves shagging on the GM side.

Doesn't that seem more useful to everyone involved.

I really want cis folks to understand the situation - trans women face widespread employment discrimination and live in devastating poverty.

Meanwhile, the woman who came in fifth place in a swimming competition, ONCE, makes a million+ a year to advocate for destroying our rights.
If Riley's doing speeches 40 times a year, assuming breaks, she'd be making between $600,000 and $999,960 a year pre-tax. She's a fucking millionaire who has made her entire career of harassing a singular trans woman into exile. I legit thought Lia Thomas was dead until she did a recent interview.

I think any story about Trump's autocracy should be mostly about the people and institutions who failed to stop it. This guy isn't a political genius, everything else just happens to be rotten. 'Toddler Consolidates Power In Household' is a story about incompetent parents, not shrewd maneuvering

This is what pivoting right to "win" always accomplishes.
”If Keir Starmer had sought to hold the door open for Nigel Farage, he couldn’t have done a better job. He has manufactured disillusionment and alienation on an industrial scale. By adopting Farage-like positions on asylum and immigration, he legitimises Reform while delegitimising Labour.”
We must act now: without a written constitution, Reform UK will have carte blanche to toxify our nation | Goerge Monbiot
It means breaking with hundreds of years of tradition, but it can’t wait. As hard-right figures spread division and laud autocrats, a fail-safe is vital, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot
