1. In a major victory, Democrats have managed to get all anti-trans riders stripped from the final appropriations bills.

This includes HHS and Ed, which had the worst provisions in congressional history.

If it passes, it will be a big win for 2026.

Democrats Successfully Strip All Anti-Trans Riders From Final Appropriations Bills
The HHS and Education bills once contained the most sweeping anti-trans provisions in congressional history. Now they contain none.

There's no requirement to swear on the Bible. You can swear in on anything. A Quran, a copy of the Constitution, literally anything. Hell, I'd gladly be sworn in on my copy of the Azumanga Daioh Omnibus. Better life lessons than the Bible IMO.
Not headline news. No real fuss by Democratic leaders. No calls to censure. No pushback. No questions asked of GOP leadership by the press.

Just totally accepted anti-Muslim bigotry across the board.

Just in case anyone needs to hear this.

"Hi I'm Sonic the Hedgehog. You may remember me from such video games as Sonic's Schoolhouse 2: The Quest For More Fractions or Sonic Superstar Scrabble!"
3. Segasonic Cosmo Fighter

This is a game meant for a kids ride, so it's over in a few minutes with nothing to it and I sure can't emulate the ride part at home either, but I played it because it has the funny Sonic voice

They should bring this voice back imo

I like JKR in the same way that I liked having my appendix die on me while watching Jungle Cruise with my family. That actually happened. Less than 24 hours after leaving the theater, where I was already feeling pain, I was in emergency surgery.

Minus the Chinese food, I'll be filled up with theater food, this is basically my Christmas. Doing a double feature this year. Song Sung Blue, because I've accidentally made a tradition of seeing a biopic every Christmas, and Marty Supreme.

I swear to god, every Malt-o-Meal generic cereal name sounds like old-timer slang for gay people.

You can’t tell me no one in the 1970s wasn’t referring to their gay neighbors as the “marshmallow mateys”

The #1 movie when you were 10 is how your 2026 is going to go.

Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. But the #1 movie the weekend before my 10th birthday was K-PAX with Kevin Spacey, so I'm guessing 2026 will involve dodging an awkward bullet.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

Transitioning is the best choice I’ve ever made in my life and the only regret i have with it is that I didn’t do it when i was younger

I'll add that anyone who wants less trans people rather than more, especially more happy ones, doesn't really have our best interests in heart.

"Male Socialization" was me having to pretend to fit in or be harassed for who I was, including being called slurs. It was me feeling uncomfortable in the locker room after PE because I didn't belong.

TERFs have no idea what they're talking about when they call trans women "male socialized"
Male socialization was me changing in the stall in the locker room so I didn't have to be seen topless

It was failing talking with uncles & family about 2 stroke engines or boats and them giving up on trying

It was not knowing why I felt like a pale facsimile of a man even though I was successful
“Male Socialization” of trans femmes isn’t a real thing. Invoking it just shows you’re a bozo trying to misgender us.

Trans people were never really socialized as our AGAB. At best, we were pressured to mimic norms that gave us dysphoria.

It’s an obvious TERF / Blanchardist dog whistle. Do better.

The easiest path is often the least enjoyable. I repressed for 10 years I’ll never get back. but once I actually become comfortable as myself, life actually started to improve for once. I’m not perfect, CPTSD is lifelong, but transitioning is the best, but hardest, thing I’ve ever done.
transition has been an exercise in learning that the more scared i am of doing something the more important it usually is for me to do it

The only ones I've played for any significant amount of time are Stardew Valley, Civ 6, Superhot, Pokemon Go and maybe Xcom 2, depending on how I define "significant". Yeah, Stardew was my favorite. Though apparently American Truck Simulator was released in 2016 as well and that's also great.
Quote this with what you would have said your game of the year was at the end of 2016, and what you would say your favourite game of 2016 is now, if it differs
