The animating force at the heart of US conservatism currently is incandescent rage at the mere idea of women's autonomy and independence. An image of a smiling woman who looks insufficiently deferential for their tastes riles them up enough to tear up the social contract.
this is all it’s really about for them. Not domestic policy, not “economic anxiety”, just an endless desire to punish stand-ins for the Mommy who forced them take a bath, even if it tanks their own quality of life.

Pohjois-Karjalan palkkatukirahat tältä vuodelta loppuivat jo nyt. Viime vuonna ne loppuivat helmikuussa. Palkkatuki on ollut oleellinen keino yhdistyksille työllistää. Rahat tulivat hakuun joulukuussa ennen kuin moni yhdistys sai tiedon STEA-avustusehdotuksista, mikä viivästytti palkkatuen hakua.

11 days into the new year and we've got a new illegal war of plunder with an abducted head of state, full administration backing for executing moms driving near ICE, and the chair of the federal reserve recording proof of life videos to explain the threats he's recieved from the president

Still too much denial in Europe, with too many clinging to the notion that nonconfrontation, persuasion, and appeal to shared national interest will get the U.S. government to change course, but more Europeans are recognizing the unsubtle pattern.
Trump has nearly exceptionless track records of both

- keep demanding more from people who appease him

- backing down against people who stand up to him

Pretty clear choice!

European countries are facing a serious “are you sovereign or not?” moment.

Yes, it’s unfair. Yes, there are risks in standing up for yourselves. But there are awfully big risks in ongoing appeasement too, telling yourselves this US government doesn’t really mean the threats and can be persuaded.

America voters cried out for more war, fewer rights, higher prices, fewer jobs, less healthcare, more corruption, fewer allies, more bigotry, less equality, more lies, more criminality, and less democracy. And they got what they voted for, even if some didn’t realize that’s what they were doing.

In America you drop your kid off at school, get your brains blown out on the ride home, then the Vice President drops everything for a week to call you a terrorist, to slander your family, to protect the circumstances that led to your death so they can do it again. It is government by Alex Jones.

Our entire politics now is about our sundowning, failing, unpopular leader, whose powers are clearly ebbing, maniacally trying to find ways to restore his STRENGTH, POWER, and MANLINESS.

Like seizing Greenland; taking VZ’s oil; killing men in boats; terrorizing US cities; bombing other countries.
Not everyone believed me when I wrote that Trump wants Greenland becuase it would make him feel important, but that's what he told the NYT:

When asked why he needed to possess the territory, he said: “Because that’s what I feel is psychologically needed for success"

One reason I feel like I'm going mad is, even if Musk did immediately halt Grok and issue a grovelling apology - rather than PAYWALLING IT - he should *still* be prosecuted and his website banned. Very obviously! You don't get out of CSAM charges by just stopping. AND HE STILL HASN'T STOPPED.

According to my sources, the FBI was initially open to a concurrent investigation with the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (the state agency that would do this investigation).

Trumpy U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen heard about this and intervened, barring the FBI from cooperating with local police.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Minnesota investigators say they can't access evidence after fatal ICE shooting and FBI won't work jointly on probe.

Violence is too often sloppy; it spills over. Misogynists kill a lot of men, racists kill white people, ICE in its attacks on immigrants and anyone who looks like them just killed a white US citizen. When you're a hammer, everything looks like a nail; when you're a gun everyone is a target.

AOC: This has now become what we feared most about ICE for a long time—that it would be used as an anti-civilian force with no accountability. At the end of the day, what we saw today was a murder, and murders in cold blood need to be prosecuted.

This is not some fictionalised, nebulous harm.

That the 'adults in the room' and 'rules-based order' governments are humming and hawwing over taking a firm line on this is extraordinary
