ICE agents in Chicago violently detain a non verbal autistic man for being “non compliant”
He couldn’t “comply” because of his disability…they don’t care
This is not the first time they’ve gone after a disabled person
They target the most vulnerable because it’s an easy way to meet their quota

I am friends with an engineer with a specialty that was in particularly high demand here and he said so many of his colleagues were hired to do something, then fired six months later for not doing the impossible, that people just assumed took it as a profitable sabbatical

dare I say that packaging socialism in a genuine love for civic duty and the broader public makes a lot more fucking sense than packaging it in cynicism and ironic detachment towards the idea of government and public service. who’da thought?!

It's fair to wonder how much it matters that Mamdani won outside the Us, but I think it matters at the very least because if New York City of all places on this earth wasn't willing to stand up for pride in diversity, what hope is there for the rest of us?

It’s genuinely hysterical how fast we went from “hah, dumb libs can’t possibly counter our map redrawings because they’d never be able to do it in states like CA” to CA voters being like “yes Gavin, crush the red swine into the dirt with your map”
BREAKING: California voters approve a new House map designed to help Democrats net 5 seats next year, NBC News projects, countering Republican redistricting in other states.
California voters approve Democratic-drawn congressional map as national redistricting battle spreads
NBC News projects that a ballot measure has passed allowing California Democrats to bypass an independent redistricting commission and counter GOP efforts around the country.

My 1yo saw this video in my feed, pointed at Starmer and said "daddy big hair" and then me and said "daddy no hair" so... Yay.
I think this speech needs sharing again.
Since the PM said this, there have been Tories who have come out & said the same as Reform: that they want to see people with a legal right to be in the UK get deported.
Call it out and stand up for these people - our friends, neighbours and key workers.

On the one hand, sure, but - and I say this as someone who does support it - it's a mutual commitment. If a country joins NATO, we are promising to defend their sovereignty even if it comes at the cost of turning all of our urban areas into nuclear wastelands. This is a big deal!
Opposing NATO expansion is a nonsensical policy. If countries want to join it, they can. Nobody's twisting their arms. Not sure what "non-militarised" security involves
The Green Party condemns Russia’s invasion, backs Ukraine’s sovereignty, and urges peace talks. It opposes NATO expansion and supports replacing NATO with a cooperative, non-militarised European security framework 💚

Increasingly I think the point of a wealth tax is not to raise money but to create space for raising income tax. The lethal thing in politics is when the compliant middle class feels like they have been taken for mugs; if you want to get money out of them, someone else needs to pay more too.

I still can't get over the fact that the people who think Buttigieg briefly working for McKinsey is disqualifying are somehow caping for a blackwater mercenary with a death camp tattoo who said he loved to fight in colonial wars.
We read Graham Platner’s whole Reddit archive. The vilification of the Maine candidate for Senate doesn’t square with what he actually wrote in his posts.
