The amount of cruelty, hatred, and dare I say evil in our society sometimes shocks me. Even after 26 years in the criminal justice system.

A thing to understand here is that Wired + Teen Vogue is Condé Nast — this is the Newhouse family being basically the only good billionaire publishers. Other than them, it’s the indies of the new alt media and stalwarts like ProPublica and then basically crickets.

the death penalty is wrong, more expensive to implement than lifetime incarceration, provides no justice just retributiuon, is unreversable in case there was a mistake, and the government should not be in the business of killing its own citizens.
Context here: Most Americans support the death penalty, and I personally don't mind if a mass murderer who nobody questions the guilt of dies by injection instead of old age.
