Perhaps some day, over a glass of whiskey that I accept, despite my gastritis, we could talk frankly about this.
The low dose aspirin is 81 mg/tab. If he's taking 4x that's 324 mg which is the equivalent of one aspirin tablet per day.

Low dose is also coated to try to prevent stomach damage.

Dumb but probably not fatal.
The gist here is that Trump is basically going to kill himself, because he doesn’t listen to his doctors and thinks he just has “very good genetics.”

Not sure I buy all of it b/c they’re trying to explain the bruises as--he’s taking 4 times (!) the amount of low-dose aspirin advised.

Current WH effort, while effective, is JV compared to the daily morning press brief (Mañanera) instituted by AMLO and continued by Claudia Sheinbaum in Mexico. Example: we fixed some roads, here's a bunch of drone shots of the fixed roads. Perfect to be picked up and re-posted on social media.
Another thought on this: The Trump admin has video crews in every major agency, which film what they're doing and release highlights and fancams.

That's dictionary-definition propaganda. But it drives news. I wonder if a future Dem admin could resist doing the same.
This is totally true from Weigel, and is in some sense a result of the Democrats refusing to invest in media for like at least the past 45 years. It's what drove Robert Parry at Consortium News

This is why I don’t trust the "Never Trump" Bulwark guys. They’re perfectly comfortable with real people being harmed, so long as the harm comes via a process they can label “liberal democracy.”

Another example of why you can't trust Supreme Court beat reporters for major media outlets. Way, way too invested in the importance of their beat to acknowledge the corruption of the institution they cover. Nina Totenberg making "friends" with RBG is another example.
NEW: Jan Crawford's attack on SCOTUS "corruption" narrative was its own substance-free narrative.

On Face the Nation, CBS News's chief legal correspondent went after Supreme Court critics as "dangerous." And yet, her court defense was completely lacking in specifics.

The story was the ultimate in a reporter being given access and falling in love with his subject, producing a story that omits context and important details. Draper wrote hagiography not journalism.
Agree w JVL. Also, Draper spent years talking to MTG and cultivating her as a source. She trusted him and told him things that no other reporter was going to hear. I felt MTG'd out too but this is a tremendous story.
I’ve seen a bunch of responses to the Draper profile of MTG complaining about her pushing ahead a bill that restricts gender-affirming care for minors. This is a misunderstanding of what she’s doing. www.thebulwark.com/p/why-marjor...

Keir Starmer was the model for centrists and popularists who insisted that moving right on issues, especially immigration, is how you win at politics.

Wonder if there will ever be any self-reflection here! Ah well nevertheless

My take on MTG's rehab effort below. Adding: Agree w/ @cherylrofer.bsky.social - death threats are bad. Agree w/ @atherton.bsky.social that she's positioning for a post-Trump Republican fight, and R fights are good.

But the fawning NYT attention she gets for being a little bit decent: yuck.

Here's a thing that's Marketing 101 but hardly ever present in any of the weak ass messaging from Dem leadership: the Call to Action (CTA).

Jeffries just laid down a fact, but what am I supposed to do with it? Vote in 11 months?

No CTA for me, and no indication of an action from him. Typical.
The Affordable Care Act tax credits expire in five days.

House Republicans refuse to come back to Washington to vote on an extension.

You deserve better.

“Democrats lost because you criticized them and didn’t vote hard enough”

“Can I criticize now? Election is over”
