Basic intro: I write, I edit, I read, I’m witchy, I’m a cellist, just started viola, love fountain pens and inks, and I’m a handspinner with too many spindles and four wheels.

Eric always gives solid advice!
People always ask me, “how do I know my manuscript is done?”

There’s only one way, my friends.

If your file name looks something like this:

Manuscript - Final Draft 3.7 FINAL FINAL - FINAL (5).docx

Then, and only then, is it time.

There’s no such thing as having too many books!

Until you move. When it’s time to move, then it’s too many books.

the labor of art is mostly invisible. what you don't see in a finished piece is all the hours of thought it required, all the little discoveries and surprises and tragedies of production. art IS the process. if you aren't interested in the process, then i don't really know why you want to be artist

friendly reminder that during the horrors we’re currently living in, it’s okay to log off, take a break, and do something that makes you smile. humans weren’t built for this amount of empathy 24/7, you need to practice self care and self love too.

This.

Seeing sketch lines in hand drawn animation. Seeing fingerprints in claymation. It's like hearing the faint sound of the hand moving over the strings of a guitar when someone is playing. Small imperfections are signs of life.
My partner, who went to school for animation and illustration, was talking about 101 Dalmatians, how beautiful it is, but how recent versions of it have been "cleaned up." We often talk about how making something "better" has come to mean making it look like a person didn't have a hand in making it.

Sobering. When I talk to people about long-term bird population declines in N America, I mention that the main cause is habitat loss, not climate change - yet. But new research shows that climate change is causing bird declines even in otherwise pristine places. www.theguardian.com/environment/...
In the most untouched, pristine parts of the Amazon, birds are dying. Scientists may finally know why
Populations have been falling for decades, even in tracts of forest undamaged by humans. Experts have spent two decades trying to understand what is going on

IMO:

What AI should be doing: assisting experts in a field with tasks that require massive amounts of data analysis, speeding up their process.

What AI should not be doing: simplifying complex subjects for non-experts who don't understand the underlying concepts or knowledge base.
