my point isn't (merely) doom; my point is that the plaintiffs and lawyers and anybody else opposing the administration needs to be realistic and understand where this is actually going because SCOTUS has almost literally told us that they aren't a co-equal branch against this man

lawyer's corollary: don't put in e-mail (or in a text, or in a voicemail, or on social media) anything you don't want read back to you in court
all I’m gonna say is that I am a life-long slightly edgy poster and I’ve never caught a suspension or a ban anywhere - because it is in fact quite easy to avoid crossing the “this joke could possibly be construed as a violent threat” line on social media

yes, THE BLUE LAGOON was problematic & it capped off a whole damn decade of deeply problematic films (e.g., LAST TANGO IN PARIS), & there's a million commentators out here who weren't around in 1980-81 & it's great on the one hand but, damn, we could really use some institutional memory right now
In 1981 the whole country was bad guys I guess.

One time back when I was a prosecutor I was trying a CSAM case and I asked a psychologist if the defendant being a pedophile should factor into his sentencing, in the sense of asking whether paraphilias could be treated.

And this very smart doctor said to me:

Let's be clear: Giuliani lost his Bar licenses because he lied in court and other official settings about the integrity of the 2020 election in Pennsylvania, not because of anything having to do with the electors.

1 - accepting pardon = admission of guilt

whatever federal criminal charges that led to losing his bar license(s) are now crimes that he's admitting to

2 - his disbarment was based on violations of the New York Rules of Professional Conduct, not federal law iapps.courts.state.ny.us/attorneyserv...

BREAKING

the "pardon" is meaningless because they were charged, if at all, with state crimes, and/or they face consequences from their law license disciplinary authorities, and/or the statute has run on any federal crimes they might have been charged with before now
BREAKING

President Trump has granted a pardon to a slew of Trump world figures, including Rudy Giuliani, Mark Meadows, and Sidney Powell, for their efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

it's been a long time since I lived south of the Mason-Dixon line and parents kept their kids from me and my sibling because they thought that the parent who took us swimming at the Y was Jewish, so I don't mean to be naive ...

but seriously, do people in Alabama really believe this kind of thing?
Tuberville: “We just saw what happened in NY. We lost NY. It will be completely Muslim in 3-4 years. That’s what they want. And it’s going to spread throughout the country.”

Using this logic, schools can't bar students from using racial slurs.

Also, the "solution" to this is for any student misgendered to punch the offender and start a fight, proving the use of slurs causes a substantial disruption.

Finally, Fuck you fascists and keep Tinker out of your mouth.
BREAKING: The Sixth Circuit, in a 10-7 en banc decision, holds that an Ohio school district's anti-bullying policy that requires students to use children's preferred pronouns is likely unconstitutional on these facts.

Judge Murphy, a Trump appointee, writes the court's decision.

Apparently no other complete copies are known to exist: https://gunkies.org/wiki/UNIX_Fourth_Edition

new definitions of "neoliberal" and "shill" just dropped
The reason 30 Rock succeeds years later while parks and rec has aged like a toilet full of milk, is that 30 Rock doesnt shy away from portraying Liz Lemon as an obvious villian with a victim/hero complex, whereas Leslie Knope was played just a straight hero character, even tho she is a neolib shill
