They are not chorded (eg. you don't push ⌘+N at the same time, you push ⌘ then release then N)

@SnoopJ It looks like the latest branch of the River compositor makes it fairly easy, it splits out window management from the compositor and there are some WMs that are just a couple hundred lines of code
