I’m pissed that we’re all going to have a shitty 10-15 years economically because a dozen techboys believed that it was possible to write code to the point that the program could write better code and eventually either kill us all or make us immortal, and so they spent $1.5tn for $41bn in revenue

it’s truly wild the canadian government or even the provinces aren’t going harder on amazon. the company literally shut down all its warehouses in quebec because workers unionized!

this is an evil company that gets away with it because it’s seen as convenient, the costs be damned.
I wrote about the growing scrutiny Amazon is facing in New York. The overwhelming majority of the city council has now co-sponsored a bill that would force the company to directly employ its last-mile delivery workforce.
It’s Time for New York to Take On Amazon
Amazon has long evaded unionization of its last-mile delivery drivers by subcontracting them to third-party companies. Legislation introduced by socialist New York City Council member Tiffany Cabán co...

It's especially wild because Amazon and other private courier companies were written about at length in the report that the government is basing its Canada Post overhaul on!

having a lot of angry gamergaters in my youtube comments on this one lmao

My genuine unfiltered opinion is if you still think its about Ethics in the big 2025 then you're ngmi.

The list of grievances is so incoherent & long that its only purpose at this point is to make disaffected gamers assmad.

🫠 the definition of sovereignty is using infrastructure another country can turn off whenever they want
The post even acknowledges that Microsoft cannot fully guarantee continuity of service if they are ordered by another country to suspend or halt operations in Canada

Digital sovereignty requires ripping Microsoft out of essential systems and ending reliance on its infrastructure, not allowing it to rebrand dependence as sovereignty.

Gamers have such incredibly unreasonable demands of indies it's sort of a wonder anything gets made at all.

I could never fault an indie dev for just wanting to withdraw entirely from public from what are deeply wild, unfair or aggressive demands on their passion projects from 'gamers'.

Better than I expected, but how about not using it at all?

Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

I don't care if the Steam Machine is too weak.

Not everything has to be 2160p with highest graphical settings with full raytracing and costs £/$1,000+

1080p is still good enough, no raytracing is still good enough, 60fps is still fucking good enough.

China's oil demand is entering structural decline.

Speaking of tattoos, this ICE officer has an interesting one on his hand.
