my latest is out today. higher ed right now is a difficult place to be, and Palestine is at the heart of it. some faculty, however, are working hard to create networks of support and solidarity despite the difficult terrain.

it's a coup and a heist.

the absolute indignity of living through a million transparently obvious scams somehow working is so enraging.

this is absolutely disgusting and Core Civic is getting more and more contracts. i'm investigating shitty conditions at a Core Civic prison in another state right now.
People held at the Core Civic-run ICE jail in Kern County, California are denied medical care, access to their attorneys, and, for disabled detainees, the most basic accommodations, according to a class-action lawsuit filed by the ACLU.

“No human being, immigrant or not, should be subjected to these horrendous conditions,” said one of the plaintiffs.

ummmmm i'm honestly shocked to learn that larry summers is apparently a democrat?

there is so much wrong with this man's actions and beliefs that has been well known for the whole 21st century. the persistence of these assholes is so depressing.
NEW: Before the recent Epstein disclosures, Larry Summers was poised to lead the economic policy plank for the Democrats' "Project 2029" effort at the Center for American Progress. He signed off on a housing policy paper CAP was prepping for next week.

honesty why bother keeping my identity markers confidential. maybe someone else should have my identity since it doesn't seem to be enriching me very much.

the way that prisons use people in cages as hostages to get information and surveillance on people in the so-called free world is absolutely wild, and has dramatically increased in the 10 years i've been doing inside/outside solidarity. disgusting.

there is an undying fire of rage inside me about this shit

sharing for ideas for other chair users who might need this tips for planning and for folks not using chairs who can think about what our neighbors might need.

let me say again: it's actually very hard not to leave someone in another apt during a fire, so it's important to plan for how to avoid it
Okay updates on the fire situation!! when I first contacted the fire dept I was told they don’t keep a list of wheelchair bound or bedbound people which is SHOCKING given California is like fire capital of the US & bc of last January. But I digress. I contacted my local city council member, board,
Had my first fire evacuation today. Guess I’m officially a SoCal resident. Except this time i am wheelchair/bedbound. When I tell you i was about to be a roasted chicken nugget. They closed hr elevators so i couldn’t get down. I just called the fire inspector to help me safety plan for next time.

The fundamental impetus and ideology of AI is to destroy real people’s professions and lives, while soiling the environment and debasing our most treasured cultural practices, for the vague promise of increasing shareholder profits in the name of efficiency. It’s a “fuck you” to human civilization.
How is AI *really* impacting jobs?

Henley Chiu, the CTO of Revealera, a jobs data analysis firm, analyzed 180 million jobs listings in 2024 and 2025, in an effort to find out. Chiu found an:

-8% drop in all jobs postings
-~30% drop in art, photography, writing jobs
-22% drop in journalism jobs
What’s really going on with AI and jobs?
Record-breaking layoff reports, Amazon's mass firings, and a slump in entry level employment. Is AI behind it all?

hello, reminder that NYT is unfuckingrespectable for too many reasons to count
Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

Does anyone have a tip for the closest place to drive from SW Minneapolis that's likely to be darker/good viewing?
If clear tonight - especially closer to sunset but after dark, tonight could be another big night of northern lights in Minnesota and elsewhere. #mnwx
Northern lights just now at Lake Harriet - and you can see reds and greens with your naked eye.
