Things I miss about the 80s:
-Cool synth music
-New wave
-Prince
-Neon fashion
-Mohawks and mullets

Things I do not miss about the 80s:
-Innocent daycare proprietors getting thrown in jail for nothing
-Existential dread of nuclear Armageddon

I feel it should be easy to pick the better list.
*taps my book wild faith* as noted in literally the first chapter, the Satanic Panic never ended, it just took a nap for awhile

this shit about daycares is literally just the 1980s warmed over. can we bring back cool hair instead of christian vigilantism

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

damn. I just searched and the piece I wrote for them years ago about domestic violence and Title IX is gone
Hello repro writers from the mid to late 20 teens - I just discovered Cosmopolitan at some point pulled almost every politics/repro story from the 5 years I wrote for them offline (except two, which they put under someone else's name and gave me "additional reporting" which it very much was not)

My favorite thing about Frog and Toad is that it is the story of two men deeply and obviously in love with one another, drawn as a tribute to his lifelong partner by a gay man long before their relationship was socially sanctioned.
Then Frog and Toad went out onto the front porch to wait for the mail.

They sat there, feeling happy together.

Dems should be running on this stuff, I truly believe that you could engage a lot of non-voters if you actually tackled real fucking problems

I'd believe this anecdote because I've met guys like this at conventions. People do ask (politely) about their work and they can't pitch it because what makes it special is that they are the specialest boy. They go to panels and hear queer and BIPOC writers talk about their work and think "ah ha". +
This shit is made up, actually

So I am going to say something about romance as a genre.

A lot of people think that romance is ignorable because <insert thing they think about romance> and romance authors don't count because <insert thing they think about romance>.

This thread is not about whether you have to like romance.

Happy Winter Solstice. The light is coming!

This is the Holly King who is now at the peak of his powers. Fortunately his ascension is complete so we can look forward to the emergence of the Oak King and moving into the light.

From my reduction linocut ‘The Holly King versus The Oak King’.

This is a pretty huge, and damning, internal revelation about the NYT's ongoing overt campaign to stigmatize trans people. Holy shit.
How the nyt used the Cass report to restart its anti-trans propaganda campaign in the US:
Coverage of the report was initially assigned to a nyt UK correspondent, usual practice for a UK report. The story being prepared cited critics who called Cass a shoddy, political document that defied science
One reason the NYT has burned its credibility with trans people is that they still cite the discredited Cass report in reporting on trans healthcare. Never the German, Utah, or other systematic reviews supporting care. They also never provide the political context behind restrictions in care.
