A statement regarding Unbound/Boundless.
Last week Unbound was scheduled to refund 8k of pledge money to people that had supported my book 'Singing Up the Sun'. Last week Unbound went into administration. Today I discovered the money won't be refunded. I'm mortified about the situation. I recommend you attempt to get refunds directly through your banks, credit card providers and Paypal etc. People are having some success with this approach. In the process of administration Unbound are rebranding as Boundless and sidestepping their debts to carry on business as usual. There are hundreds of authors who haven't been paid in over a year and now thousands of backers of book projects who won't be refunded. The whole thing is grotesque. I had hoped to take the project elsewhere but I'm starting with an 8k deficit of support and feeling reasonably broken about the entire shit show. For what it's worth I'm massively grateful for all the support and kind words I've received along the way. Thank you. x

PRINT SOCIAL is an exhibition celebrating the printmakers gathering of the same name held in Margate at Resort Studios every month.

Alongside the exhibited work by regular members there will be a variety of printmaking activities for people to come and join in with.

C is for ‘Carnival of Souls’ in my #folkhorroralphabet released in 1962 and directed by Herk Harvey. It’s a low budget cult classic, unsettling period Americana that inspired directors like David Lynch and George Romero.

A is for ‘Arcadia’ a documentary by Paul Wright, an unnerving ramble through Britain’s seasons and customs by way of the BFI Archive. The OST fuses foreboding synths, electronica and choral elements with traditional folk songs.

This morning: Archie Fisher.

Very sad to hear he passed recently. The brooding lavishly produced title track ‘Orfeo’ is a dense folkloric ballad, a Celtic retelling of the Orpheus and Eurydice myth.

It’s quite astonishing.
Archie Fisher’s ‘Orfeo’ album originally released on Decca in 1970. This is the Celtic Music reissue from 1985. Archie - a handsome man of the seventies - looking staidly into the distance.
