years of live-streamed genocide, & media refusing to call it a genocide. now footage of starving people in Gaza — horrifying resemblance to Holocaust photos — gunned down trying to get food, yet media *still* refuses to call it genocide. a moral depravity/failure that'll be a museum exhibit one day

All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.

This relates to my one bit of unsolicited parenting advice: by the time your child is 13, they’ll be passionate about an activity or identity that you don’t understand. What that is, and how you react to it, will determine and define your relationship with your child from that point forward.
A lot of older adults forced a war on universities because that’s where their kids realized their parents were evil.

As my grandpa told me: never trust a cop. If they tell you the sky is blue you make goddamn sure to double check
One thing is for certain after this week: Local cops in sanctuary cities—Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York—are working in lock step with DHS and ICE.

I've been calling this an attack for a while for a reason (the reason being that it is)
I think these blue state ICE raids can be seen as the regime trying to conquer small-d democratic states since red states are in no way real democracies and therefore don’t require conquering

He will never be President if I and most Chicagoans have anything to do with it. He was a disaster as a mayor and covering up a murder by police was just one of the many fucked up things he did. Do not give this any air time y’all.

It's hard to adequately describe how scary it is to watch mainstream political journalists barely push back against a sitting U.S. president accepting a $400M plane from a foreign government that would literally be designated as an emergency command-and-control center during a nuclear war.

RFK Jr talking about the need for doctors to know how to treat measles for those who are unvaccinated.

“Only very sick kids should die from measles.”

No. They shouldn’t. That was the point of the vaccine. We eradicated the virus so children didn’t die.

Sick & disabled kids are not expendable!

One of the reasons the liberal establishment abandoned MeToo—and joined + solidified the backlash against it, leading to the refusal to call out egregious sexual violence on the right—is because sexual violence doesn’t discriminate by party. There are abusers anywhere there’s power

Dem leadership spending over a year telling us student anti-genocide protesters were “doing something wrong,” creating the necessary hegemonic pre-conditions for the GOP to deport them.
The case of University of Alabama doctoral student Alireza Doroudi definitively proves that the justification for revocation of cracking down on ‘protesters’ who are “doing something wrong” is a pretense to arbitrarily abduct literally anyone without due process.

I think a lot about this quote from Anaïs Nin’s diary from 1939-1944:

“America is in even greater danger because of its cult of toughness, its hatred of sensitivity, and someday it may have to pay a price for this, because atrophy of feeling creates criminals”.
