A Minnesota woman observing ICE agents in her car was cornered on one-way streets. An agent approached, called her by name—citing facial recognition. Days later, her Global Entry and TSA privileges were revoked, with no explanation.

“don’t give them what they want”

they are manufacturing their justifications post-hoc. they are already doing what they want. you are not responsible for the actions of your oppressor. you are only responsible for keeping your neighbors safe and that will always be seen as defiance

Because using the term “general strike” would be to admit that the working class can successfully organize collective opposition to capital’s structural dominance.

US legacy media outlets are typically aligned with their billionaire owner / corporate interests who seek to oppose labor organizing.
I just double-checked, there is an near-blackout of national coverage on tomorrow's general strike in Minneapolis.

The only legacy print or broadcast outlet that has mentioned the exact terms "general strike" or "Day of Truth and Freedom" is ironically CBS News:

It's incredibly demoralizing to constantly see the highest institutions of government and academia and the most important and widely seen news outlets knuckle under one after another, but then to see the gulf between that and the bravery of communities and neighbors and teachers - that's something

It is important to understand that what happened in Venezuela did not happen in a vacuum

US media has refused to cover the material and historical factors that led up to the US's special military operation, because if it did, public opinion would be even more negative towards its actions

As a society we need to normalize members of congress stopping all legislative business to actually do useful stuff. Damn whatever the DC press has to say about it.

Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

While this represents a step up from traditional right wing propaganda. It’s important to note that this builds on decades of existing racist propaganda.

So even when they’re told it is AI, they’ll say it’s true anyway, because of those pre existing biases.

Both aspects are dangerous here.
So there were some AI-generated videos that purported to show Black women ranting about SNAP benefits, and... Fox News is reporting on this like these are real people. They're not! They're AI!

This is truly insane. Total unreality. www.foxnews.com/media/snap-b...

It is fully irresponsible to argue for an American return to global leadership. This country is deeply unwell and has no business leading anything until that's no longer the case. There's a whole world out there capable of tending to the world's problems. We must tend to ours.

This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

There's been a whole spate of restrictive new internet legislation proposed and in some cases passed, purportedly to protect children, and somehow Meta continues doing stuff like this free of any meaningful consequences
A German teen told Meta's child safety researchers his under-10 little brother had been sexually propositioned multiple times on its VR platform.

Meta deleted the evidence.

New internal whistleblower docs indicate that was part of a broader cover-up: www.washingtonpost.com/investigatio...
Meta suppressed research on child safety, employees say
The company’s lawyers intervened to shape research that might have shed light on risks in virtual reality, four current and former staffers have told Congress. Meta denies the allegations.

Leading global experts just confirmed what we’ve long known: Gaza is in famine. At least half a million Palestinians are facing starvation, acute malnutrition and death. And it’s likely to spread.

The U.S. government is not a bystander to this genocide. We can end it today.
Gaza City officially in famine, says global hunger monitor
Gaza City and surrounding areas are officially suffering from famine, and it will likely spread, a global hunger monitor determined on Friday, an assessment that will escalate pressure on Israel to allow more aid into the Palestinian enclave.
