When Mesa voted to fluoridate its water in Nov. 1999 (overcoming decades of John Birch Society opposition) I was a reporter at The Arizona Republic covering the story. I got a line into print “Mesa voted to join the 20th Century on Tuesday, with just six weeks left to go!” I stand by that sentence.

Last week, DHS and Secretary Noem's staff and spokespeople suggested that because Mr. Abrego Garcia had $1,100 in cash on him when arrested outside Home Depot seeking day labor, that was strong evidence that he was a member of MS-13.

This is a huge loss. I never had a chance to meet him, but Leonard Zeskind made a major impact in the fight against hate and bigotry in the US over the past 40 or so years. His book, "Blood Politics," remains one I continue to recommend to anyone interested in entering the fray.
With deep sadness, I have to share the news that IREHR’s founder, Leonard Zeskind, passed away Tues morning at his home in Kansas City.
He was a righteous intellectual/organizer, a role model and mentor, and an anti-fascist way before it was cool. He will be greatly missed.

This is a huge loss. I never had a chance to meet him, but Leonard Zeskind made a major impact in the fight against hate and bigotry in the US over the past 40 or so years. His book, "Blood Politics," remains one I continue to recommend to anyone interested in entering the fray.

There are no moderates among the Republicans, even the ones you may have hoped would have stayed moderate.
This will apply more and more to far right antisemitism, as well. Although all the other racism, xenophobia, homophobia, and transphobia should have been enough to understand this.

People did this media story in 2017, but it's an even bigger one now - the old WH press corps, for all its sins, losing space to pro-Trump media with questions that boil down "sir, how can we help you?"
The "reporter" was Jordan Conradson of the racist conspiracy site The Gateway Pundit. Less than 24 hours ago, Conradson, who identifies as Korean-American, shared a social media post declaring: "White Lives Matter." Last year, he wore a "Kari Lake for US Senate" hat while covering her campaign.
