When did we stop being nice?
Many years before the recent Ryder Cup match in New York last week, I was watching the golf tournament on the television. As always in those days, the commentator was the late, great Peter Alliss. …

@ashwhiffin.bsky.social hi Ashleigh. Spotted this bug in Orkney. Any advice on what it is? Looked a bit like a big mosquito but seems the wrong climate! Thanks, Neil

I don't think this info got the attention it deserved.

Both longhorn crazy ants (Paratrechina longicornis) and humans can figure out how to work together to move an unwieldy object through a series of obstacles. So scientists pitted the two against each other.

Ants won.

The video is ace.

Ants best humans at test of collective intelligence

V/Q before CT because of fearing contrast AKI is 🤬 🤦🏽‍♂️
RV dilatation (larger than the LV which looked small),
septal flattening ("D shaped LV"), McConnell's sign (please see the focused view) & moderately dilated IVC. TR was 3.5 m/sec

The radiology department was adamant that a VQ scan should be done first...

What would you do?

I’ll bet this caused a lot of stressed parents!
There's some interesting differences in even the basics ... infants under the age of 1 were expected to be practically toilet-trained!

Thank goodness for names on theatre hats
Word of the day is a favourite, from old Scots.

To ‘tartle’ is to hesitate while introducing someone because you have completely forgotten their name.

A patient presented in need of an urgent but relatively minor surgery. Vitally stable.

Surgery goes fine, but ICU is called because their “sat is too low to extubate.”

No prior pulmonary or cardiac conditions.

Just when you thought this Black Friday couldn't offer any more bargains, Steven has just spotted a product and/or service with an 80% discount! Incredible value!
Nice, but I've just seen an 80% off deal! If you could amplify this to your followers that would be great. 👍
