This is just the plastic straw hysteria all over again, and it's ableism at its finest: Blame disabled people instead of the corporations that are actually wrecking our environment, that way to poor widdle CEOs won't have to deal with people telling them to fucking STOP KILLING THE PLANET.
As somebody with asthma who uses inhalers - SHUT THE FUCK UP. THIS ARTICLE IS SHAMING PEOPLE WITH A CHRONIC CONDITION.

"Significantly" My ass. You know what else does? AI Data centers - corporations - cows - asphalt - THOUSANDS OF OTHERS THINGS THAT ARE NOT MEDICINE.

Fuck you - fuck you again.
Inhalers contribute significantly to global warming, study finds
Millions of Americans using inhalers for chronic lung diseases like asthma may be unknowingly contributing to global warming, according to new research.

We need to somehow end this thing where people agree with democratic policies and hate republican policies, but vote for republicans anyway because…well honestly I have no idea why, but people need to stop doing it.
Just a reminder that, despite what these freaks would have you think, antivaxx is extremely unpopular and we need to attack them relentlessly for putting insane dipshittery over our health

Leaving aside the fact that this sounds incredibly shitty, this sounds like it’s a legal nightmare waiting to happen…
Showrunner, an Amazon-backed AI streaming service, launches Thursday, letting users paying $10-$40/mo. to create their own animated shows or build on others' IP (Lucia Moses/Business Insider)

Waiter, more AI slop.
The remake of Front Mission 3 is out this week, and the in-universe 'Network' news graphics & photographs have been awkwardly recreated for the re-release, leading to confusing imagery and other nonsense. See for yourself: www.rpgsite.net/news/17799-y...

Respectfully: fuck off with this shit.

It's a 1980s family adventure film about kids discovering fucking pirate treasure while dodging a group of murderous criminals. Not everything has to make perfect logical sense.

If you're in college and can't get access to a paper/book because it's either paywalled or out of print, try finding the author's website or faculty page and emailing them.

You will be surprised at how quickly they respond and how many of them will be willing to just email you an electronic copy
If I have advice to GenZ, it's to not rely on social network and make use of email. Both in publishing it, and sending to.

I recently connected with someone of immense reputation, just by looking at their blog About Me page. They got back to me in an hour. Do not avoid this medium. Publish yours.

it's jolting how little AI skepticism has reached the general public. i've had many acquaintances ask whether i use AI for research and seem shocked when i tell them it's completely useless for that purpose. my wife recently told her colleagues about hallucinations and it was news to all of them.

it is stories like this that remind us that AI optimists are not just delusional — they are dangerous.

This is functionally no different than putting a puppet on the stand and making it say everything you want the deceased to say, *except that the judge thinks it is real*
"It was the first time in Arizona judicial history — and possibly nationwide — that AI has been used to create a deceased victim’s own impact statement"

i'm constantly thinking about how one person's decision to make the pole position countdown sound effect 3 short beeps and 1 one long beep was so singularly influential that not only is it simply a given to add it into basically every racing game by default but people expect it in real races too
The importance and influence of Pole Position is incredible. Consider: within the same 9-month stretch that Namco released Galaga and Dig Dug, two games that innovated and pushed their genres forward, they also released Pole Position, a chase-cam, faux 3D racing title with sprite scaling. In 1982.
XP Arcade: Pole Position
One of the most influential games ever, Pole Position is another classic from Namco's golden age in the arcade.

Maybe I am missing something, but how is a universal 10% tariff on all imports not just effectively considered a tax?

I've seen a lot of things in the US, good and bad, overturned because they are "effectively a tax" before...

it's really hard to describe just how pathetic the entire elite apparatus has become. "the emperor's new clothes" really does not do this justice.

the emperor is running around flashing people sporadically—some days he does, some not—and people only deny the flashing on the days he did it.
