Tonight, we did something everyone counted out. We proved to a nation that states like Tennessee are still worth fighting for. The margin was close, and that can only be attributed to the thousands of volunteers who showed out. This is just the beginning.

I want Admiral Bradley to know that I admire him greatly and will support him completely, and if he could just lie on the pavement for a minute longer, I need to put this bus in reverse and then into drive just one more time.

None of this is believable, but the idea that Pete Hegseth has "a lot of things to do" is the least believable of any of it.
Hegseth: "I watched that first strike live. As you can image at the Dept of War, we've got a lot of things to do. So I didn't stick around for the hour to 2 hours, whatever, where all the sensitive sight exploitation digitally occurs. I moved on to my next meeting. A couple hours later I learned..."

I wish there was a precedent for what happens when a demagogue picks out a vulnerable minority group and labels them as subhuman. I wonder what the next step is and whether any innocent people get hurt. And I wonder whether the demagogue's followers go on trial when the whole thing is over.

But it also is obvious to me that this is true for LGBTQ+ people, Black People, and literally every other minority. Even women, making themselves small or struggling to be heard by straight white men in the office.
