This is contemptible. Not only do we now have confirmation Hegseth has been lying from the jump, but it seems neither he nor his team understand that killing everyone on a target list *becomes* an illegal No Quarter Order if targets try to surrender or are neutralized. Their semantic games are vile.

For all that I think major media has done a decent job of covering these particular war crimes committed by the Trump administration, I do keep getting the sense that its journalists still believe we're gradually getting questions answered. I see the opposite—the number of questions is only growing.

If the concern is authoritarianism, I struggle to think of more than a very few things a state can do that are more intrusive of human rights, dignity and freedom than forced pregnancy.
