"If we throw minorities under the bus, Republicans will stop calling us too woke" is the same logic that got us Clinton's welfare cuts and Obama's immigration crackdowns.

You can't policy your way out of a right-wing propaganda problem.
This rebuke of advocacy groups always claims to be a rebuke of pronouns, but in reality it's a rebuke of standing for anything. It's a total refusal to share a vision of a prosperous future for ordinary people. It's an abdication of responsibility. And it's why they want advocates to shut up.

YOUR FAVORITE WEATHER APP IS JUST A PRETTY DISPLAY OF NOAA DATA

Ppl seem to think that "NOAA weather forecasts" means climate-, boat-, or "in addition to my app"-weather. But the weather forecasts *we all use* are made from the NOAA data *we all paid for*

Make that part clear when you ⬇️
I’m thinking we should spread this news about the firings at NOAA as far and wide as possible. Like cancer research, weather forecasting seems likely to be broadly popular across the political spectrum. apnews.com/article/nati...

As to the substantive goal, if you want Trump to comply with the law, you can't just say "we really mean it" or accept a GOP pinky swear. You have to make him comply at the outset, and then fund the government in short bursts so he knows he can't easily renege. www.offmessage.net/p/its-crunch...

To win public opinion, though, it has to be clear Republicans are begging Dems for votes (because they're too dysfunctional to govern alone), without providing any reason to believe Trump will honor a deal (because they know he won't). At least for now, that means dropping the filibuster threat.
It's Crunch Time To Save The Rule Of Law

Arrests have a cost yall:

- time in jail
- bail
- dealing with lawyers / courts
- no contact orders
- employment
- travel restrictions

Civil disobedience with the intention of provoking arrest has a time and a place. It's best done as part of a widespread, dedicated campaign supported by normies.

Your weather app gets its info because of NOAA.

Your mail arrives at your home because of USPS.

Your plane navigates the skies because of the FAA.

Your food is safer -- and we get alerts when it isn't -- because of USDA.

You hear about earthquakes *worldwide* because of USGS.

The Trump-Musk assault on disability rights is monstrous on its own but also the start of a wider assault on other vulnerable populations. Pay attention.
NEW: On Section 504. "Attacks on any one group will be used as a wedge to attack all of us. You may not personally know any trans people, and you may even be uncomfortable with the idea ... but letting this attack go forward will eventually hurt you and the things you love, too." /1
Why are Republican states trying to overturn a pillar of disability rights?
They may not be successful in repealing Section 504 as part of the attack on treating gender dysphoria, but it begs the question of what they might come for next.

Organizing spaces and community spaces have said "in person is the only way." Disabled people may not be forcibly institutionalized right now (though RFK has plans for that) but we are isolated because others refuse to keep us safe. 18/20

If you are a cis person *please* take 2 minutes to do this. Trans people with non-updated gender markers, historical gender marker changes, and X markers are terrified to travel right now; rolling back this policy would mean a lot.
Public comment is now open for passport gender marker changes.

You can go here to go to each of the three proposed passport rules, and submit comment.

My suggestion: be unique, argue for trans-inclusive policies, against the constitutionality of the changes, etc.

If Dems decide regrouping after 2024 means striking an optimal balance between Obamaism and Bidenism, they will march into 2028 with a playbook for a discontinued game. All these recriminations over the best face of liberalism is navel gazing until fair play and the rule of law are restored.
There's More To Life Than Obama And Biden
Should the next Democratic president be an Obama-style "neoliberal" or a Biden-style "post-neoliberal"? Probably neither. Do these categories even exist? Barely.
