Corporations are relying on shame to stop folks from fighting to keep porn around. An amazing way to fight against this stuff is to simply not be ashamed of sex and sexuality; even if you think some of it is "cringe". You'll do yourself a favor by eliminating your shame about sex.
When you fight censorship, you're also fighting for things you might not exactly like and it's something you gotta get comfortable with. I promise you, the fetish game you turn your nose up at is NOT YOUR ENEMY. You must think of the bigger picture, you must not fall for the bait.

Computers were a skill. They were taught in classrooms as a skill. Skills give you power over your tools because you work them as an expert and that is leverage to multiply externally.

And then computers became an A/B tested telemetry-based advertising conduit to brains for SaaS recurring revenue.

My phone has full optical character recognition of 47,000 photos. I can search individual words.

I cannot search three words in quotes.

Computers used to be powerful. That power meant something. It was power for making your life better in sovereignty to your own interests.

And now we have this.

I like how full text search of every book and human thought ever was a SOLVED PROBLEM in 2001, and now dicks at search engines and my own phone – a piece of silicon faster to respond than God was ever imagined in scripture – prevent it from working, _as a retroactive infantilizing design choice_.

My grandfather was a soldier in WW2. He fought the Nazis in the Middle East and the Japanese in New Guinea. The PTSD that he suffered echoed through my family, right up to myself.

It still blows my mind that we had a literal World War about this and there's still people dick riding for the fuhrer.
Nazis are not an abstract concept. They're not a myth, they're not from an alternative timeline. Acting like it's not really a big deal for someone to show ANY level of support about ANYTHING they did is unacceptable.

They tried to MURDER MY GRANDPARENTS and they DID murder MILLIONS of my people.

remote work is like birth control or UBI atp where there’s overwhelming research consensus they improve quality of life for people they apply to, yet access is impeded or blocked by the ruling class because the thought of marginalized ppl having rich full lives makes steam come out their ears
2. Rolling Stone is owned by a large media conglomerate, which is ending remote work across its brands.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

No-one commissioning an actual human artist considers themself to be the “artist” of the final work, no matter how much detail they might include in the brief.

Claiming to be “the artist” when it’s machine-generated prompt-slop is no different.

You’re not the artist, you’re the client.

It really is heartbreaking watching DriveThruRPG and DMs Guild become AI slop cesspools. Shame on those platforms for not dropping the ban-hammer on slop day 1, instead offering a “human made” honor system toggle 🤮

I've just finished this book. A quick but interesting read about one of history's most interesting figures. Not much is known about Diogenes, and the author makes some attempt to separate the legend surrounding him from what is verifiable and what is likely given the circumstances of the time.

It is morally wrong to want a computer to be sentient. If you owned a sentient thing, you would be a slaver. If you want sentient computers to exist, you just want to create a new kind of slavery. The ethics are as simple as that. Sorry if this offends

Does anyone out there know what happened to the TTRPG company Goblinoid Games and its founder Dan Proctor? Last I heard he was working on Labyrinth Lord 2nd Edition, but that was over a year ago and the whole enterprise seems to have dropped off the radar.
