May 4th was a week ago, but as I've just joined Bluesky here's a little #StarWars gaming history for the three people possibly interested - an interview I did with Jack Yarwood at @timeextension.com last year, about developing #NES Star Wars for Lucasfilm.

I watched an old movie last night ('The Bat', starring Agnes Moorhead and Vincent Price) and since it's miserable weather out today have written some mostly-rambling words about it.

(Warning: spoilers aplenty, but it is about a film from 1959, so...)

Slimmer pickings at the op shop today, but found a Ross Noble double-DVD and a hardcover Bryson I hadn't seen before -in excellent condition - coincidentally both published in 2010.

Chilling in an op shop when “Jesus died for somebody's sins but not mine…” comes over the sound system and I am instantly transported back (too many) decades to jamming in a literal underground garage on our own interpretation of this - Patti Smith’s (no pun intended) glorious cover of ‘Gloria’. 🎵😎

(Apart from The Cure I've been on a bit of a 90s female singer/band kick.)

A few days ago I finished 'Amongst Our Weapons' by @benaaronovitch.bsky.social. I love how every successive entry in the Rivers of London series evolves - characters, world building and the mechanics of magic in-universe are always changing and building on previous outings. Highly recommended! 💙📚

Last night wound up doing a double-feature for #spooktober; the OG 'House on Haunted Hill' along with... 'Carry On Screaming'... 🤪

So now the two have now become a gestalt entity in my mind, wherein Vincent Price and Kenneth Williams are having a sort of arch camp-off, and it's oddly glorious.

Signed and shared. We have a choice to get in the water. Sharks don’t, and this netting is killing other fish and sealife. A humpback 🐋 was drowned in the netting today.

With the digital release of Heart of Neon now in the hands of the Kickstarter backers, it only felt fitting to unveil the film’s soundtrack. And here it is available exclusively on Bandcamp:

I love the #BOM so much that if it was the only reason for the internet to exist, it would be worth it. But I’m struggling with these changes and struggling with my struggle to adapt to the changes! We are so used to the maps that we describe storm severity as red or black rain.

Out walking the dog this afternoon when we heard the rumble of thunder and looked up to see this. Now back at home as it absolutely buckets down.

Just finished watching #HeartOfNeon - the brilliant doco about legendary game dev pioneer and legend Jeff Minter, by @d0kk.bsky.social and I'm blown away by it.

Even as a fan since C64 days there was no shortage of elements I was not aware of, and the overall arc and storytelling was so satisfying.
