Please be able to provide some kind of visual reference for your character(s). (Pretty much anything works!) it's just really tough; I imagine if the mushrooms were self-repairing you'd have to keep re-carving every room in your house to prevent them from closing back up. Which COULD be an interesting concept now that I say it, but it wasn't what I was going for in this instance

In Kae Tugaal, people carve out their homes inside of kangae -- an extremely resilient local species of giant fungus.

The flesh of these mushrooms is more durable than wood or stone, and much more effective than either at warding off the region's extreme cold.

Vae and Shen grew up in places with very different climates, so their comfortable temperature ranges are a little different

Shen is dressed in her normal clothes (A boat-neck long-sleeve shirt and a skirt) while Vae is wearing a winter coat, hat, and scarf, shivering and glaring furiously. Vae has a caption above her that reads: 'Never saw a single snowflake until she was 124', and Shen has a caption above her that reads: 'Grew up in a place where there's three to fifteen feet of snow on the ground 80% of the year. Shen stares in stunned silence at Vae's extreme reaction to what is, from her perspective, very mild weather. Doodle of Vae and Shen outside in 88 degree weather (31 degrees Celsius). Vae is in her normal clothes, looking unbothered, while Shen is wearing a tank top, sweating profusely, tugging at her shirt to fan herself, and looking like she's about to collapse. 'This place is uninhabitable, how have you survived this long???' Shen groans. 'Aren't you a khinaema?' asks Vae. (A translator's note explains that 'khinaema' is an Aesungaian word for a person born with wind magic; Shen could be cooling herself off with magic at any time)
